New Project for Hazel Fernandez?
Whilst browsing 'the Freemasons' myspace listening to a cover track i had heard called 'Uninvited' (which by the way is excellent acoustically) i stumbled across a new track for there album called 'If'.
http://www.myspace.com/freemasons
The track name lists the vocals being performed by Hazel
It's a house/dance track and her vocals are very powerful indeed but im not to sure about the rest
Freemasons are an excellent House/Disco band who may be known better for remixing and in particular the remix of 'Don't Give Hate A Chance' in Nov 2005 which was pretty good. So It's not surprising Hazel has teamed up with them if of course that is the case.
check it out!
and also Bailey Tzuke - http://www.myspace.com/baileytzuke - daughter of Judie who has recently applied vocals for Moorcheeba's album - 'Dive Deep'. It's all a big loop - if it wasn't for moorcheeba i would not have found Judy Tzuke and then would not have heard Bailey and then the Freemasons, leading me on to Hazel! _________________

Thanks for this heads up Russ.
I love the original 'Uninvited', so this one isn't quite working for me. I think the dance beat behind it for me take it somewhere else unfamiliar that isn't as bitter for me or maybe the girl singing it sounds so young that it doesn't have the same meaning as the haunting Alanis version.
But, 'If' featuring Hazel is great. I really dig it. She has such a sultry voice and powerful range. To me, she mixes so many styles, and I dig that.
Thanks again love _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

i disagree im afraid deesh,
i think Bailey's version, especially the acoustic is just as haunting if not better. Im not keen on the dance version with the Freemasons im afraid.
did you see this video on her myspace site? it was a performance on Uk tv the other night.

i think she definately has simalarities with her mother Judie(funny that eh!) - check out Moorcheeba's album - Dive Deep on their myspace and preview tracks:- 'Enjoy the Ride' & 'Blue Chair' - beautiful!
I have downloaded the Freemasons album 'Remixed' though which is pretty similar to 'Shapeshifters' work. Some good tunes there if you like progressive House, funky bass lines and are a club head! _________________

All Good - Great you exposed me to her though Russ and this track!
I didn't check out the video, but I went to her MySpace and I liked the 'You From Me' lyrics and the guitar, but her voice just sounds too young for my liking and tastes at this stage in my life...kinda comparison to Hillary Duff or Ashlee Simpson. The ooh's part I actually can dig a bit.
I am obsessed with the Alanis version of 'Uninvited', so it is hard for me to adjust to anyone else pulling it off _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

This Freemasons album is very Funky though - just listening now and im tippy tappy toeing.
really surprised we never heard about it from Hazel or one of the bandmembers
although it is prodminantely a remixes album. _________________

Update on Hazel
She was involved in a gig at Christchurch for the 'Funk People' including other Jamiroquai bandmembers. An intimate gig playing covers.
I have no more information about this just now. _________________
