a new vista-user is born (unfortunately)
after my nvidia networking controller had problems with the lan connection
(under xp and linux suse)
i was so despaired that i decided to install my vista business i bought officially for 10 euro from my school....

and everythings works as always (how strange)
but vista is sooo slow (with the classic design too) and in the end it looks and works like xp just with more anger and mouse clicks
its very stange

i think here in the forum are some people that use vista longer than me
do you have some good tools for me?

maybe something to improve the efficiency of vista?

Maxud,

Win Vista is more better than you think, but it needs more powered electric source block inside than you got (might be Wink ) and that's why it seems slower. NOT every PC can launch Win Vista

Tell us some details about your computer. I installed vista on my 3-yrs old PC and it's actually noticeably faster than XP (and I have most of the sparkling visuals turned on)...

hey thank you for your answeres!

well at first yes, im alive Laughing Laughing Laughing

and i cant swich back at the moment to xp because of that problem i know that theres a driver problem but i installed them all again and again in different ways but nothing helped... a bios update wasnt the help i expected, too...
the last chance i have is the service pack 3 ill test it when i find some time...

my pc is fast enough..

2x 2200mhz intel processor (its an older one but ok)
geforce 8800gts graphics card
evga 680i sli motherboard
4 gb ram

i hope that ill find some time in the future to deactivate all the useless windows vista protocols in the background by myself...
i like the design but it makes my pc slower (in my opinion too slow)
and without installing the nforce software my network controller works nearly as slow as a 56k modem Laughing
and maybe ill find a way to bring my nvidia networking controller in xp back to life...
i think something is still wrong but i really have not the time for that all...

did you perform a clean install and re-format the hard drive first?

4 GB RAM should be more than enough for Vista...?

Yes, but you only can fully use the 4 GB RAM if you use a 64 bit operating system. A "normal" 32 bit operating system only works with 3,0 up to 3,1 GB RAM.

By the way, I've bought a new laptop computer, with Vista... Very Happy
