Which NEW instruments should appear on the new album?
Well, personally, I'd like the addition of a Sitar, a Berimbau and a Theremin. I think those three would actually work out quite well, together, and at the same time. Quite frankly, I wouldn't mind if the band would go a little too far. After all, the didj and the turntables were an excellent combination. |

Well I think a song with a double bass for the bass-line would be quite nice. I wouldn't mind Sola to do some really trippy far out experimental percussion . Derrick could add a dark china to his kit line up (he might have one already). Good topic. _________________ Bass to jazz.... j-j-j-jazz to bass... |

I wondered a while ago too how a double bass in funk would sound. In fact, I think it was never really done before, and I think it'd sound good and innovative, especially when you think of the double bass as the predecessor of the B-guitar. I also don't think that any plucked string instruments would sound bad if played with a bow. I'm all into experimentation, and any sound that sounds even a little unconventional for the instrument it's being played on sparks some sort of nice feeling in me.
Hmm... What about running an instrument through a vintage vocoder? |

I just had a thought... a song with glockenspiel or xylophone would really bring out the band's vibes. That would be awesome.
Two bass guitars would be really trippy... . _________________ Bass to jazz.... j-j-j-jazz to bass... |

I'd love to have the flute in some tunes again - loving that sound in SIT. _________________ ~ I look up to Heaven, every star I see is mine.

Definately agree with the flute. Strings can be a nice touch when good scores are written. Unfortunately they can sometimes be a bit cliche. But in twm they are really good. _________________ Bass to jazz.... j-j-j-jazz to bass... |

I'm for an accordeon, this can sound "funky"!
No, this ain't a joke, do you know Richard Galliano? He's a French musician playing jazz with his accordeon. If you can swing with it, why not funk with it? _________________

Oh, I know exactly how that might sound. ("Alabama Blues (Todd Edwards vocal mix)", by St. Germain) An accordion would be pretty cool, I agree, but it has some [undeserved] negative connotations with gypsy music down here in Serbia. Not that there's anything wrong with gypsy music, but it's sorta embarassing for a person to even listen, let alone play one of those things where I come from. Not that it doesn't make me agree with you, in fact, I'd love to hear it on the new album. |

I think the horse may have already bolted on this one mate.
As most of the new stuff is already written I would assume that the band have gone back to their roots a little with the album.
I think we may see the re-invention of old school disco with clinton-esq funk not mention the wonderfl jazz sounds of the 60's.
Think motown meets brit pop
