Well.. Blu-Ray is like the new best thing, and it hasn't been spread all around the globe yet. So I guess we'll have to wait a few years to see every DVD released (or re-released) on Blu Ray.

Every Montreux concerts are originally recorded in HD since many years ago. In the montreuxsounds webpage you can read this: "The 1991, 1992, 1993, 1997, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 editions of the festival were recorded in High Definition TV." _________________

technically today's HD cameras were not available in the early nineties, but anything that uses film stock (35mm or better) has a resolution much higher than any consumer HD tv can display. This is why they are able to produce old movies in HD (westerns, black and white, etc) they were all shot in film. A Blu-Ray HD image must have at least 1080 lines of resolution, while film generally has 4000 lines of resolution,so we can probably even go to the next version of HD with the current line of movies we have out now. The only issue is when they try to put TV shows that are shot on video, usually for budget purposes. These will prob not ever be good enough quality to put on Blu-Ray. |

The difference between a regular DVD and a Blu Ray is very big, is just that you need a HD TV.

Hello,
Brother D is right, Blu-Ray holds 50 times the media capacity of a normal DVD, that's: DVD=3 hours of media storage To Blu-Ray DVD=50 hours of media storage . It is good Blu-ray won the fight, but what really still sucks about this format is the simple fact that they are ONLY filling less than a 1/3 of the available space per disc. Sort of like buying a CD of an album with ONLY 1 song on it. Now, I might just get a PS3 WHEN they start selling WHOLE TV Series on Blu-Ray DVD on just 1 disc, couldn't you just imagine how cool that would be. Till then, I will wait till they come out with some Blu-Ray DVD burner players, I have already seen burnable Blu-Ray DVDs starting to pop up in some stores, at $15-$20 a disc, that is a SINGLE disc. In any case, till the latter I just described is fulfilled for consumers, I will stick to "Ol' Bargain Basement Original DVD Format"! Cheers!
Sincerely,
