Rhodes piano Matt Johnson uses: Rhodes MARK II
for those who is interested this is the model of Rhodes piano
Matt uses!!!
this vintage model is called "Mark II"
on this pic matt plays a chord on it
Rhodes Mark II (1979-1983)
As a new decade was approaching, and at the height of the piano's popularity, CBS decided to put a new face on the Rhodes product line. The Rhodes Suitcase Piano was updated with a sleek black design, a removable music rack, and a flat harp cover for supporting an additional keyboard. Aside from these cosmetic enhancements, the "new" Suitcase pianos of 1979 were identical to the previous "Mark I" version.
And after 10 years of being designated "Mark I", the Rhodes Mark II Stage Piano made its debut. Like the Suitcase models, it was a last-generation Mark I piano with the new all-black design. |

I don't really have an amp for it, though I used to use an old 60's amp my father gave me. However Fender Twin Reverb seems to be the best option according to most people. Something with a good, fat sound, like a bass amp is probably very good too.
I'll see if I can find a picture of it, I haven't used it in ages! Our band used to have two bassists, so I could play Rhodes or clavinet on some songs. But the other bassist quit, so now the Rhodes and clavinet are just gathering dust in the rehearsal room.
One day, when I have a house, I'll fill a room with instruments and play like crazy! _________________ Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication! |

want to say i love the way matt plays rhodes.
my favourite moment - is when he is playing Soul Education
on Mountreaux 2003 - the place where J is singing and Matt is playing cool phrases.
I also want to ask him if one day he has free time, to record the rhodes groove he played on tour in 2006 a rhodes piano link between Main Vein
and Time Wont Wait and place it for fans to download. I love that place so much it could be great to listen to it . i have concert recording of this place made from the concert hall, very bad quality.
but that bit is just wonderful |

I agree. I specially get a goosebump during his solo in 'Use The Force'... is just perfect for my ears.
