in need of recommendations for a funky party location
hi all!
my dad wants to open a new location..
his idea is kind of " after -work/study -party"-location groundflip

he asked me for help as he will need help for the selection of music ...
in his earlier cafe he only played classic music and jazz (oldschool)
so this one will go into a new direction he isn´t into it yet so much...

7note DISCO-/FUNK
7note SOUL
7note NEW/ACID-JAZZ...
( i told him that there is no location around here that plays music i like..lol)

so any artists/titles/cds that came to your mind now..please write it down here and help us to bring a goodvibezonen to linz...!! 2goodvibes

it should be happy and groovy and make people want to dance and party to it! (no slow tracks)

very important to him of course is QUALITY...
many many thanks in advance! bumpin' heart

That sounds like a wonderful project! Very Happy

Am sure that Deesha, Peggy, Russ and Claire (and some other people who I forget at this moment) will love this topic and be able to help more, as their knowledge about the music you are looking for is wicked! Very Happy

Good luck to your father! I hope that the new business is a huge success Very Happy

Okay, I flipped through a couple of folders and found some fitting albums:

"Mothership Connection" by Parliament;
"The Payback" & "Hell" by James Brown;
"One Nation Under a Groove" and "Uncle Jam Wants you" by Funkadelic;
"Sign 'O' the Times", The Black Album and "Controversy" by Prince;
"Stand!" by Sly and the Family Stone;
"Minneapolis Genius" by 94 East/Prince;
"Machine Gun" and "Hot on the Tracks" by the Commodores;
"Off the Wall" by Michael Jackson;
"Boulevard" by St. Germain;
"Bad Girls" by Donna Summer.

You'll find a couple of good dance tracks on those ones.

From the spanish banda called "Funsación Tony manero" - Looking for la fiesta. They sing in english. I love their Stevie WOnder´s cover "Livin´ For The City" (much better than the original)

Michael Jackson - Thriller. It has some awesome funky tracks

Isaac Hayes - The best of Polydor years

Some Kool & The Gangs songs (I loove the steppin´ out song, but they ahve more, for example "fresh", "Celebration", "Jungle Boogie" or "·Emergency")

Earth WInd & Fire - I Am.

Stevie Wonder. songs "Masterblaster", "Superstition"
