Chuck Taylor Celebrating 100 Years With NEW MUSIC!
Hello,
Having worn Chuck Taylors for most of my young to middle life, I found it refreshing to find out that the "staple of American Musical Culture", Converse is celebrating 100 years of the fabled shoe . Being a symbol of the Punk, Rock n Roll and even Hip Hop American Music Movements, Converse decided to start a new music campaign to celebrate the shoe. Firstly, they got Pharrell of NERD, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes & Santi of Santogold together to record 1 of 3 new songs, entitled "My Drive-Thru", which will be available for worldwide free download at www.converse.com and all other authorized Converse websites on June 10th 2008. Here's a little more about the other "mostly indie but still amazing nevertheless" music artists whom are taking part in this SMART campaign:
In addition to collaborating on the track, the artists also participated in the creation of a music video that will be released during the summer. The song will be promoted, in part through Converse print, outdoor and online advertising tagged Three Artists, One Song. The advertising features the three artists as well as a range of emerging musical talent from across the globe, including MGMT, Bradford Cox of Deerhunter and Atlas Sound, YACHT, Kid Sister, Eleanor Friedberger of the Fiery Furnaces, Frank Carter of Gallows; Does It Offend You, Yeah?, and Sophie of Care Bears on Fire.
You can hear a early webrip of the Strokes/Santogold/NERD track "My Drive-Thru" here and ENJOY!
