background of mr. moon - montreux 2003
hi, i´m new here, so - hello to everyone!
i have just watched the dvd "live at montreux festival 2003", which i really like. mr. moon is one of my favorite songs of jamiroquai. on the dvd, jay is saying something about the background of this song, but i can´t understand everything. can someone help me out please? thanks! |

Hi there belladonna!
I think in the dvd Jay starts talking about the background of the song, but then gets distracted by something. All he really says (if I remember correctly) is that it's about a girl he met years ago.
I heard somewhere else that Mr Moon is also about the general stoner theme of The Return of the Space Cowboy  .
Hope this helps, someone else might know better than I.

that's right - he got distracted. i just rented live from montreux, and he starts to talk about the background of the song 'it was when i met some girl, this was years ago i was a youngster', then an audience member offers him a joint (which he denies because it won't be strong enough), then derrick begins playing.
in an old bootleg (not sure which), jay mentions 'this is what happens when you take acid in the park on a full moon - you fall in love with everybody.' something like that.. |

what is he saying before that, with the "most important thing on the planet..."? |

He is just referring to the moon being critical for life as we know it on Earth...tidal forces, shielding from meteors..all that good stuff
