Tonight: Incognito in Luxembourg
Tonight I'm going to the Incognito concert in the Atelier in Luxembourg-Hollerich.
Funny fact is that my girlfriend lives in the same street as the venue, den Atelier.

Of course I'll write a commentary about the concert tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. (But I won't give you the complete set-list, I don't want to carry a pen and a note pad tonight. ^^)

It was awesome!!!

Here what I have posted on the Incognito forum:

Quote:
Sorry guys I didn't carry my camera with me during the concert, so no pictures from my side.

But, the concert was awesome!!!
The band was great and the audience was H.O.T., I liked this gig even more than the one in Kaiserslautern last year. (Maybe because Bluey, Tony, Joy and Imaani said so often Luxembourg.^^) Bluey even called us, the audience, "a funky lot". (To which I answered: We smell funky! )
One could see that the band enjoyed itself on the stage and the audience was following.

I am sorry I can't provide you the set list of this particular concert, I asked the bassist for one, but he told me that they didn't print one and I can't remember all the tunes they played.
But they played a lot of older songs and some new ones too, like N.O.T., When the sun comes down (With a very funny anecdote about Bluey's adopted daughter)... for the new tunes and Colibri, Always there, Still a friend of mine, Reach out, Talking loud, Nights over Egypt... for the older ones.

The whole band was great. But the highlights of the show were (although one could call the whole gig a highlight):
- "The funkiest Jew in the world" Matt Cooper's percussion solo on the keyboard.
- Paul Greenwood's long sax solo
- Pete Ray's (sorry, forgot his last name) drum solo, where he lost at least 3 times his right stick. This new drummer is really awesome. You could think, by his outfit, that he's some rapper from the hood, nontheless this guy is funky!
- Francis Hylton's bass solo
- The part of the show, where some musicians changed the instruments (The drummer on the bass, the bassist on the keyboards and the keyboarder on the drums)
- The singer's performance. Especially Imaani's, it's a delight to watch her singing.
- And of course: Bluey's anecdotes!

The gig lasted for two hours and a half, which is quite long, but it could've lasted even longer!

I really enjoyed the concert and can't wait to see Incognito live again. Ahhh Bluey, next time you come to Luxembourg, try to say something like "Gudden Owend Lëtzebuerg" ("Good evening Luxembourg" in our local language ^^) at the beginning of the concert. Even if there were a lot of people from abroad at the venue, it would have been appreciated by us local boys and girls.

Finally Bluey, one of the audience made a joke with you: "Entretuer" doesn't mean "to introduce", but to kill each other , the word you were looking for was "introduire".

Yours sincerly
ophone (André Sax)

P.S.: Trevor, did you get your fags for 4,30€/box?

I must say that even if I slightly prefer Jamiroquai albums to Incognito albums, I definitely prefer the cog's live performances to JMQ's!

Hey Ophone, I saw your message on Incognito forum
I was there also, what a night.....

Same for me, I wonder if I prefer Incognito gigs than Jamiroquai ones, maybe because of the brass section Laughing , but surely because Bluey takes the time to share with the audience unlike Jay does

Talking about brass; I talked briefly with the trombonist Trevor Mires, which was the one who played with Jamiroquai on the famous Jazz Cafe gig in 2006. He told me Jamiroquai are in the recording process and the next tour SHOULD (that does not mean 100%) have some brass back

Anyway, Cristina has picked up the setlist on the stage. Even, we could read it before the gig ....
s
Cheers

WOW !!! Sounds great !! I love Incognito gigs !!
Was planning on going myself but unfortunately I'm sick since Monday, not working, and because I am very dizzy sometimes my doctor told me I should not drive my car for a while...

But, very happy you enjoyed yourselves there !!
