Matt-Johnson-Special with rare interview at JamiroTalk
Matt-Johnson-Special with rare interview at JamiroTalk
Hello Jamiroquai-Fans!!!
I am happy, because today I can present you something very special and rare!
Follow the link and you will find a nice article about Jamiroquai's keyboardist Matt Johnson including an interview and some biographical information about the man.
By the way, the answers are brand new. I got them just in time before Matt was leaving for Istanbul.
Enjoy, I am sure you will like it!

Comments, discussions and greetings are welcome here in this thread.
Your chance to say "hello" to Matt: he will see it!
Special thanks to Jamirofan2000 for the editorial support
and of course a big Thank You to Matt for enabling this interview!!!

Good idea, David. In your interview you can go "deeper underground" and dig out some more secrets about Matt.
I am looking forward to reading it!
Have a nice weekend,

Cool stuff! Very nice interview, too bad though that there wasn’t any question about the Nick Fyffe thing...though when he spoke about the band members, he didn’t include Nick! (Hmm, maybe Meike wasn’t allowed to ask about that, eh?) But I think that says enough then...
What I have to say is that I'm getting a very positive feelings from what he says about the new album. I feel like a lot of Jamiroquai fans, that would like to see them go back to the old sound, and that's exactly what he describes! And the Shoot The Moon track was already a great teaser...
And, in case you read this Matt; really cool to see you're reachable for the fans, top man. Also, I went to my first Jamiroquai concert this summer, at the Stimmen Festival in Lörrach. And I have to say, it was great! I went there with my girlfriend who is also a Jamiroquai fan, and who I actually met via the bands website. We had a great time, which I will always remember, and I hope to go to more concerts in the future. Thanks!
Rob

Listen, matt is a very talented keyboardist and though we all miss toby or stuart or whomever, we can still count on Jamiroquai to bring us the best music around

Well, I personally think u can judge Matt after listening to the 6th album and his contributions...for me the core of Jamiroquais success and music was the intercation of Jays enormous melodical talent and Tobys sophisticated harmonic environment as u can especially see on the first 2 to 3 albums...
I'm happy to hear that the new album will be more raw and stripped down as I like the "Return of the space cowboy" sound and songs most...especially the Radio mix of "Return of the space cowboy" is one of the best songs of the nineties...
We as a band will perform "Stillness in time" and "Love foolosophy" next week and I'm looking forward to play those funky bass lines although I find Stu's line on Stillness in time an ever-ongoing challenge for me as he is really fast and puts out that great latin feel in it.
Well nuf said for the moment...cu guys, check out or site at http://www.calophainsloft.de btw. |

Maaaaaaaatt!!
Matt is a nice guy. I like his style on keyboards. I was in front of him in the concert Jamiroquai played in 2002 in Madrid, Festimad Festival, so if anyone saw a girl with a colored knitt hat in front row it is me! yeah!
Matt, if you read this, stay funky forever! You're cool!

Matt is a very nice guy.
I knew him, after Brescia concert.
He is Funky, much Funky, relaxed with a big smile and attentions for all funs.
Exactly, new album will be much played and less electronic.
Identically words.
On the streets of Brescia ....

Great interview, Meike! :good:
My favorite part is when Matt describes the bandmember's personalities ;
"Rob's the joker, Derek's the drinker, Sola's the thinker! As for Jay, he can be all those things and a few more besides depending on what mood you catch him in." LOL
What a riot!! :D
Keep the good stuff coming

wow
applause
Thank you matt for this interview !!
(meike: did you interview him after the concert in istanbul?) Respect!!!
especially the "professionell" style of the site ! looks fantastic
the special thing about this is that a "fan" interviewed "a bandmember".
you really questioned those things we would have asked
(that´s gonna be difficult for david to find "new" questions ..../not really i guess)
and to matt: go on with your work. ...
and we are all eager for the 6th album and your "parts" of it . and by the way you said that it´s gonna be more "live" instuments ...marvellous to "hear" . _________________
