Who Should Remix for Jamiroquai?
Something I've been thinking about for years is which artists and groups would do the best job of remixing for Jamiroquai. I haven't always been satisfied with the remixes that have been done for the band in the past, with a few exceptions (the Masters At Work and Knee Deep efforts were always terrific). They've usually sounded dry, monotonous, redundant, and in fact rather lazy. I'm pretty sure there are remixers out there capable of matching the unique characteristics of the band and their style.
So, who do you think should remix for Jamiroquai? I know that some among you believe that *nobody* should remix for them as the quality of their work is best left untampered, but that's a position I don't entirely agree with. Besides, the band will surely continue to have remixes of their work put out, so such arguments are not what I'm after. I'd instead prefer to get a positive-thinking discussion going about who should be doing the remixing in the future.
To start, here's who I'd nominate (in no particular order):
Simon Grey - http://www.myspace.com/simongreynastyaudio
[This groovy Australian soulster has made some of the funkiest and jazziest house music of the last decade. I love his entire body of work. He's been affiliated with previous Jamiroquai remixers Knee Deep and has contributed, I believe, to the Main Vein remixes.]
Rasmus Faber - http://www.myspace.com/rasmusfaber
[From Sweden, Rasmus Faber has done some really pretty, elegant, uplifting house work. His new album is sparkling.]
Kaskade - http://www.myspace.com/kaskademusic
[Great modern clubby work from San Francisco.]
Reel People - http://www.myspace.com/reelpeople
[Fellow Britons, Reel People have got a nice soulful sound. Check out "The Rain" for a prime example and marvel at the possibilities with Jamiroquai.]
Lovebirds - http://www.myspace.com/lovebirdmusic
[German house it-kids, Lovebirds are putting out some pretty laudable music in the tech/progressive house scene. I think they'd mesh well with Jamiroquai's sensibilities.]
Miguel Migs - http://www.myspace.com/djmiguelmigs
[Migs has been a mainstay of the house music scene for about a decade now. His signature buttery sound is very chill and relaxed.]
The Rurals - http://www.myspace.com/therurals
[Very deep, jazzy, soulful house music from England. Also affiliated through their record label Peng with BitterSuite - http://www.myspace.com/bittersuiteprod - and with BRS - http://www.myspace.com/brsmusicuk.]
Spirit Catcher - http://www.myspace.com/spiritcatcher1
[Belgium tech gods Spirit Catcher make me move.]
Yam Who? - http://www.myspace.com/yamwho
[Londoner Yam Who? could cover Jamiroquai's sounds with silky, groovy, funky musical warmth. Mmm.]
Home & Garden - http://www.myspace.com/todaysmodernhome
[These guys put out a really innovative dance record on the OM Records label last year. I love the way their direction is going.]
Style Of Eye - http://www.myspace.com/styleofeye
[Swedish blippity-bloppity tech house marvel Style Of Eye has a really fun feel to his music that could really positively enhance Jay Kay's boyish charm.]
Okay, everyone - what do you have in mind? |

I agree with Dyego. Except for the knee deep remixes of feels so good. Seriously, they are so much better than the studio version, it's hard to describe but they sound so much deeper and more hypnotic.
I like to dance to Grant Nelson's version of too young to die , it's pretty cool. In fact all of the eope remixes are good. _________________ Bass to jazz.... j-j-j-jazz to bass... |

Wow, nice list.
Here would be my top choices, in no particular order:
Sa-Ra Creative Partners - the FJLIS remix was epic. 100% quality.
Simon Grey - his Galactica Suite was great stuff.
Grant Nelson - pro skills, heard the Runaway remix?
Basement Jaxx - 'nuff said.
Rasmus Faber - great house producer
Reel People - again, skills.
Jazzanova - I have a feeling they'd put a proper amount of time into it. they're all about quality releases.
Bugz in the Attic - Jamiroquai broken beat? I'm curious..
Spirit Catcher - the kings of futuristic disco-house, in my opinion |

Sorry dude but I specifically said that if you don't like remixes then don't bother posting. This comment isn't relevant to the discussion I want to have at all. |

The Sa-Ra Creative Partners remix was so good, wasn't it? Yes, I'd love to see more of their input. Also appreciate bringing up Jazzanova; I think they'd do a terrific job. And the idea of bringing in Bugz in the Attic has me quite curious too. Nice suggestions!
Also thought about mentioning Jazztronik from Japan. If you haven't heard of them, I believe they're represented quite well on iTunes. I recommend "Future Talk" above and beyond all others, but "Phoenix" and "Samurai" are very worthy as well and offer a tantalizing idea of what they could do if partnered with Jamiroquai. |

Excuse me but I will post wherever I want on this forum.
Besides, there's a fundamental flaw: I never said I don't like remixes. Just said "enough with". |
