Why has Nick left the band?
Today I got an email from Anthony Durham - a Jamiroquai fan from the very beginning, which tells us something about Nick's reason to quit.
I am allowed to post his message here:

As you know, Nick endorses Ashdown amps, and Mark Gooday, the owner is a friend of mine, so I asked him why Nick left. Here's his response:
Spoke to Nick a while ago, he just said that he could not work like that any more and had become too close to Jay , even lived at Jays for 6 months , had no time for his own career and wants to move on now. If I hear more I will let you know.

interesting.....
Thanx for that cosmicmouse.
I understand Nicks point about wanting to follow his own career. And maybe he was just suffocated with the band and feeling his identity was lost in the band...who knows but thankyou very much for providing with that info. |

But what I don't understand is: a bassplayer normally plays in a band and not as a solist. So you need to be tough enough to become accepted as an individual in the band. You need to be a "type" to be recognized by the average audience. Maybe the other bandmembers are too dominant (drinker and thinker and joker and all three together ) And living together with Jay shouldn't be too easy
Anyway I wish him all the best for his future - he seems to be a very nice guy. |

My thinking......
Thanks for the message CosmicMouse, it gives an interesting insight.
Here's my thoughts. How many times have you heard someone say "I really love Jamiroquai, he's great" or something along those lines? Many non-fans think of Jamiroquai as just Jay (which in a way is true as he is the only one with the record deal while the other members are contracted to him) and maybe Nick felt like he was too anonymous in the band and wanted to break out and make a name for himself in his own right - after all that's what all musicians want to do.
At least it seems like it was a peaceful spilt, no arguments no anything like that.

If that's true, then I say this: Nick, don't nagg, you were a "no-one" before Jamiroquai. No offence though. _________________ The name's Rob, just Rob |

well i believe Nick is the greatest musician!
i'll support anything he does!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i believe its kinda difficult to work with genious people.
Paul McCartney's musicians left him very often.
just couldnt stand his dominating position in the band.
the only thing i cant understand why couldnt he
do his solo stuff and be a band member at the same time?
hey Nick if you read this i am your big fan!  |
Nahhh you're wrong... Nick's a great bass player and also I think he's the best one... of course... i think Stuart Zender has his own style and it makes him better than anyone... _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!
I agree with FunkEducation. I like the style of Nick and i think he did a very good job! I think Stuart and Nick are difficult to compare, maybe due to the change in style when Stuart left. Bruno, why do you think Nick isn't a good musician? I'm really curious... |
Well i really like how Nick dances with his bass on stage... it's great to see himself moving around there... just see the montreux jazz festival and see Nick in Shoot the Moon!!! Well... Stuart Zender did that too.... but as LLCoolJr said, is very difficult to compare them... but both are nice bassmen. and i wanna know why you think that about nick too Bruno.... _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!
I prefer the way Stuart was moving...
In some videos (Uga Uga Ruga for example), we can have the impression his bass is a part if his body... He was probably born with a bass hung on his hands ! _________________
Then, in live performances plays the same as the album songs (or he change a little...and this "little" i dont like it)
know that its only my opinion...im simple a jamiroquia fan..nobody else ....and im comparing Stuart with Nick...
