Apparently that journalist is now a hero in the Arab(?) world.
I have to admit, Bush has some quick reflexes. _________________ Bass to jazz.... j-j-j-jazz to bass... |

After throwing his shoes, al-Zaidi was wrestled to the ground by security personnel and hauled away. According to Democracy Now! this morning, “Muntadar al-Zaidi has been held without charge for over twenty-four hours and has been reportedly beaten in jail.”
The Iraqi prime minister's press secretary, Yassin Majid said that al-Zaidi may be imprisoned for up to 7.5 years.
If you think this is wrong, please sign the petition to free Muntadar al-Zaidi. |

"Bush Shoes" conquer the world
"Business has flourished for the factory in Istanbul which manufactured the "projectiles" thrown at the president of the US.
By throwing shoes at the president of the US, George Bush, iraqi reporter, Muntadar al Zaidi did not only become the Arab world's hero, but he also skyrocketed the demand for shoes of a manufacturer from Turkey.
Ramazan Baidan, the owner of a shoe factory in Istanbul had to employ a 100 more people, so that production of more than three hundred thousand pairs of black leather shoes, identical to the "projectiles" thrown at Bush, could become possible.
This turkish shoe manufacturer said for the "New York Times" that, when seeing the shoes the newsman threw at Bush, he immediately recognised his model.
"We have been manufacturing that specific shape for more than 10 years; I designed them, so there is absolutely no chance that I mistook them for another model", says Baidan and adds that the largest number of shoe orders is coming from the US, the UK and the neighboring Muslim countries.
And while manufacturers around the world are still fighting the global economic crisis, this shoe manufacturer from Istanbul can't even fulfill the demand for the shoes, which is about four times the average yearly product number.
"We've been selling these shoes for years already, but thanks to Bush the demand for the shoes is high and constant. We have even hired a marketing agency which should advertise the shoes via television networks", said Baidan.
Solely from Iraq, there were orders for 120 000 new pairs of shoes, while a company from the US ordered 18 000 pairs of the same. Aside from that, a uk company offered Baidan to become his European distributor, while a huge demand for that model was also witnessed in Syria, Egypt and Iran.
The model 271, how it was called until today, might soon be renamed into "the bye-bye Bush" or "Bush shoes". Four distributors are already brawling to represent the manufacturer in Iraq, where, during the last year, 19 000 pairs of this model were sold, a pair for $40 each.
Across the Middle East, some 5 000 advertisement posters for these shoes were posted, on which in Turkish, English and Arab it is written: "Goodbye to Bush, welcome democracy!""
Out with the "Beatle boots", in with the "Bush strollers..." |
