JAY ON TOP GEAR SUN 27 JULY 2008 ON BBC2????
Hi everyone, here's some news from Funkin.com...
Back in October 2002, Jay took part in the "Star In A Reasonably Priced Car" feature of BBC motoring TV show Top Gear. Jay raced around a test track only two seconds slower than a professional racing driver and throughout the ten week series, Jay was the fastest celebrity around the track.
His time has since been broken (a number of times) and the record (in the car that they now use for the feature) is currently held by Simon Cowell. Well, according to an interview with Andy Wilman (Top Gear producer) on the Top Gear website, Jay is planning to challenge the record this week - in the final episode of the current series.
"Finally, as I write this, Jay Kay is coming down with his sights fixed firmly on Cowell's lap time. In truth, I think he's the only star around at the moment with the speed to knock Cowell off the top, and bugger me is he hungry for it. So, no rain dances from anyone please. Let your gardens wither - we need a dry track on Wednesday."
The weather forecast is so far looking promising and although the show is filmed during the week the result won't be broadcast until Sunday (27 July) from 20:00 on BBC 2.
For information, the current 'celebrity' leaderboard and the previous leaderboard can be viewed at the Top Gear Website.

This is gonna be well worth a watch and i have it ready to record
ive seen Jay go round a track first hand and he is a 'Tasty' driver!
He won that race day - hands down, but of course couldn't claim the prizes
there is nothing more satisfying than seeing the smug look wiped off Cowell's face, maybe he will loosen his trousers too
COME ON JAY (& british weather )
does anyone have the last Top Gear with Jay & Tiff Needell - i think it was? my file is that old is ceases to work _________________

*Offtopic* Russ - WHAT?!! Nevermind about Simon's smug face, he has a great behind
Even if our weather turns to rain, I wonder whether Jay will do a rendition of Gene Kelly a la Verona instead! _________________ Jamiroquai - it's stitched into the clothes that I wear... |

OHMYGOD I'm going to miss it!
I watched the one in which Simon knocks off Jay at the top...I was not impressed. How can a man with his trousers too high be able to strecth his legs to reach the peddles??? _________________

heres the show where Simon Cowell Says: "Id like to be Jay Kay" |
Thanks! I hope that Jay wipes that complacent grin from Simon's face! Go Jay! I am sorry that I did not see the part in which Jay was only... From that direction there is not a video? |

yep thats it!
although he was wearing that hat in 2005 during the AOL online videos of him and the band performing at Chillington?
maybe he dragged it out again in 2005 but he has only ever done Top Gear 'Star in a reasonably priced car' once.
The other show was Fifth Gear where he appeared with Tiff in one and then a tour of his cars and garden racing track with Vicki-Butler Henderson in the second. _________________

Yep, that was Oct 2002, and this is from the Top Gear Awards (final episode of the same series) when they presented Jay with the trophy for being the fastest 'star' at the time.
Great news he's having another crack at it. I love this show. _________________
