Jamiroquai discuss new deal with Universal................
Just when it seemed Space Cowboy Jay Kay had hung up his spurs, we hear Jamiroquai plan to mosey back into town.
Apart from releasing greatest hits album High Times two years ago, and playing the odd gig abroad, they have been keeping a low profile.
But now they are in talks with Universal over a new deal.
We hear: "The plan is to make a new album, then tour. Most of the album is written, they just have to finish it.
"Negotiations have been going on for some time but it seems things have been smoothed out.
"Jay is desperate to get back into the game again."

Could be true, if you ask me. At the Audi Q5 party, I was talking with Matt about the new record company and have reported about it in my review... maybe you remember??? - here a quote from my review:
| Quote: |
I decided to get a drink. I got an "Offroad" Cocktail (non alcoholic, because I had to drive back home later on) and suddenly met Rob and Paul. We said hello, talked a little and then they went on to get a drink as well. I walked around, lurking for Derrick when suddenly Matt was standing in front of me. Very nice! I had never really talked that much with Matt in the past - but this time we had a nice chat. We were talking about the new album, about the next tour, about the next gigs in Germany and Korea. He confirmed everything we have been reading in recent german articles: The album might come out in the summer - maybe June. Then they will do several festivals in the summer and he guessed that the new album tour will start at the end of the year.
He said the album will have great songs! Very different to the last album but he seemed to be very happy with the songs so far. I said that some of us had already been listening to a few songs in Ahaus, he then explained: Yes, but we overworked them completely meanwhile - they sound very different now, he said.
They have about 25 songs from which they have to choose now.
He said this time they are having many more songs made then for the previous albums. That's different this time.
When I asked if they have a record company now, he said: "yes, I think so, but I cannot really talk about it. But yes, it's a big one - the album will be pressed on CDs. You guys will get real CDs and won't have to download the songs." |
So, already in November they had been negotiating with a big record company - could be Universal.
At the moment I cannot tell, if this is good or not... well, I think Jamie Cullum is at Universal too... why not... maybe this way the release will come closer now, as well as a world tour! |

They were already negotiating the contract back in august... It's absolutely normal that they signed with Universal... And don't worry, Jay won't be fooled this time... _________________ Max. |

The point is that the mirror is piece of bullshit whitout any journalism ethic...
Like their sily sentence "
| Quote: |
| "Jay is desperate to get back into the game again. |
" what is their source to say stupid things like this?
I'd rather think that's just some catchy statement just to shock the readers...
Another example:
| Quote: |
| We hear: "The plan is to make a new album, then tour. Most of the album is written, they just have to finish it. |
Who is this "we"? And who told all this ?
Even the author of the piece of **** is just pure fake :
and can't be taken seriously.
Pathetic ! _________________ Smile ~ |

Ok, we all know Mirror is not the most reliable source.
Since Jay is allergic for Sony, and they kinda touch a lot of music it is kinda hard to find a non-sony label!
Matt saying to Meike, it is a big one.
So the mirror Heard it was Universal....at the moment they can fit the description.
Be happy that they finally found a label wich does not give Jay a rash, and let the music come our way!
The tour is kinda logical, and Jay having fun on stage...well....remember that little bit for a radio broadcast?
(no i wont perform, ok...1 song...at the end they could not stop him!)
And the "we" is Jay himself...he has been spreading word that he has been writing, so not really news either!
The picture, no not nice but in all honesty...they have to sell papers!
NOt happy with papers as Mirror, but ppl like gossip
Look at this, they just had one new word..universal.
But it brings jamiroquai back in the spotlight, and that is also good for negotions

Finally some new news... and why it was not possible to load up a normal picture into this article? But as I noticed it early already: what it is possible to expect of the journalists...? |

I don't think there's cause for concern with this new deal biz.
No doubt they'll keep most of what they do in-house as much as possible (normal Jamiroquai style), but for stuff like distribution, it'd help to get onboard with some specialists... You can't do everything yourself at the scale our guys are these days!
Jay ain't no fool when it comes to this stuff - any contract will be rock-solid I'm sure... _________________
