Hypnotic Brass Ensemble
Guys pls take a look to:

They are energy! I'm gonna listen them tomorrow at Novara Jazz Festival - http://www.novarajazz.org (Sola is performing in some show with them, I don't know if he will play tomorrow...). I bought their last work on iTunes, it sounds great!

They are currently playing around Europe (the Italian gig is free Very Happy), so if anybody is interested why don't check the calendar?!

Don't be so anxious :p

My english skills are poor as review writer... But I can surely admit HBE gig has been 100% energy! They are amazing and I suggest all the people with a bit of sense of music to listen to their albums.

8 brothers, 8 brass instruments and a drummer... You can sing and dance for 2 hours without sit a minute.

I really enjoyed that day, not only for the gig! I met all the guys during the visit of the city center. When I saw such a beauty in the street: 9 afro all black dressed with a white t-shirt as scarf! I couldn't stop myself from asking "ARE YOU THE HYPNOTIC BRASS ENSEMBLE???"
Very Happy

Then I asked the guy with dreadlocks if Sola would have played with them that evening... He answered "No, I'm sorry, Sola is engaged in London tonight, I'm gonna play drums, are you disappointed???"
LOL

The important thing of the gig has been the duration and force. They played a lot and almost at the end some of the bros took the microphone, one by one began to ask the audience to stand up and release energy, and dance dance dance! The next song all the people were standing on the side of the stage, and then slowly under the stage!
After 5 minutes everybody got crazy and what the bros said was true, people dancing/screaming and clapping their hands has created such a circle of energy! I think those walls never heard such a noise before.

...until the ensemble played "Party Started" and everybody led by the brothers started to sing the predominant motive of the song:
"I get the party started - You keep the party jumping!"

What a moment!

The pictures are here > http://www.jamirotalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1328&start=2025

All the videos are on upload, stay tuned!

P.s: Manu pls review my mistakes!

No mistakes Mr. Green

I absolutely agree with you. I'm new into this kind of music (at least until you introduced me to something similar), but I agree: the concert was 100% pure energy! Too bad it was moved into a theatre, but at the end people seemed to forget that Razz

Musically they're really cool, nice orchestration, every song got some soloes that were splitted between the higher brasses, and this was never annoying.

Audience was mixed, as I think it's normal for a free gig. Prior to HBE, a jazz trio played (drums, hammond and sax/clarinet)... nice performance, sometimes experimental... and the drummer was a SICK CRAZY BOY! He started going around the stage playing with sticks almost everything (even on the floor!)

The only (little!) negative thing is... temperature! Inside it was really hot. You know, you don't feel tired or warm when you are dancing and the groove is going on... but when it was finished... you surely feel it! But this is the main disavantage of doing such a gig in a theatre.

My rating??? 10/10!

Look forward to listen to them again.
