Greatest Hits - Blue Ray CD
Hi to all,
One the past 22nd of July, it was released the Greatest Hits in Japan, with a new CD format: Blue Ray CD.
I've bought the CD, and received it yesterday... and I can a sure you, the sound contained in the CD is very strong and good! Simply something sweet to our hears.
The CD Player, reads it perfectly, not being necessary buying a new equipment.
This release, comes with an extra track ... Half the Man as track number 20.
Just a little annotation for you all, as if you want to buy it too.
All the best,
Tiago _________________

Ok, it's actually not a Blu-ray disc, but a standard audio CD manufactured with a blue laser to cut the pits in the disc more accurately than the normal infra-red laser. They call it a "Blu-spec CD" in this case, and it's a bit inaccurate to call it Blu-ray, because it's not...
Sounds like another one of Sony's gimmicks to try and halt falling CD sales if you ask me, but hey, if you think it sounds better, who am I to argue...
What would be far more interesting would be to get them working on some 5.1 channel mixes of the albums, I would totally shell out for some of that.
(From the Wikipedia article)
Blu-spec CD describes an Audio CD manufactured by a proprietary process introduced by Sony Music Entertainment (SME) in late 2008. Its name derives from the similar manufacturing process to that used to create Blu-Ray Discs. Instead of a traditional infra-red laser, a blue laser is used for recording the pits on the CD master that is needed for disc replication. The blue laser creates more precise pits, causing less distortion in the optical read-out process.
A Blu-spec CD can be played on all CD players and does not require a blue laser to be read. _________________

Thanks for that. I thought it was wrongfully named as a 'blu ray', but what do I know? |
