What is Morning Glory about?
Sorry if this has been thoroughly discussed already but I conducted a search and found nothing plus I'm new around here. I'm really only into the Space Cowboy album and I've noticed that some of the lyrics are simple but profoundly complex at the same time. I just also wonder about this song due to the title and the other song on the album that references altered states of consciousness. |

morning glory is the name of a flower, wich contains "d-lysergic acid amide, ergoline alkaloids better known as LSA." (from wikipedia)
the song explains the "vision" jay presumibly had when used it. _________________

Yeah that's what I was thinking.
I would still like some insight into what exactly it is he's talking about. |

It's most certainly drugs. Jay said himself that he was constantly high during the return of the space cowboy's era. |

Not Smart, you sound pretty smart to me
Maxud, I thought the same as you...but because of the lyrics I think it has to do with more with peace and love, not sex...The glory of a new day breaking perhaps...
Morning Glory...
"Morning Glory"
All of my visions were untrue
Till I had a vision of you
And untimely end for all
But it was only then, only then that I saw
Saw the morning glory.
Can't you take me there
Can't you take me there
Away from soliloquies of sadness
And prophecies of pain
For us all to see.
I had a vision in my mind
I had a vision of peace
I had a vision of you. |

Folks outside of Australia have probably never heard of this, but the Morning Glory is also a giant "wave cloud" that occurs in Arnhem Land. It's basically a giant wall of cloud over 1000km long and several kilometers high that sweeps across the land. Aborigines used them as a sign that the rain season had arrived.
I always figured that was what the the title was referring to since the song before it is called Journey To Arnhemland
Wait ...do non-Australians even know what/where Arnhem Land is? |

this is new for me too!
I didn't know of such a flower... I know of some cactus ( peyote) mushrooms...and little stamps...also something called Ayuvaska ( from Brasil) but a flower..no!
I always taughted it was about some english stuff...don't ask me why!

All I know is that Arnhem is in Belgium. Or was it the Netherlands? Well, somewhere around there! _________________

That's interesting....I knew of the Morning Glory flowers, but never heard of the wave cloud...you are right the didgeridoo song is before Morning Glory on the album...makes sense to me...and I never knew where Arnhemland was either. I love to learn something new on this site. |
