Looking For Artists/Songs With Lots of Synth/Moog Action
So I recently started listening to Simon Grey's stuff, and I like it. Very synthy... that's also a quality I like about a lot of Jamiroquai songs.
I was wondering if anyone knows of songs or artists that use a lot of synth/moog action in the music. If it has a really nice bassline, that would be even better.
To give another example, I found this guy's profile on myspace yesterday... and his music is awesome! |

Yeah, I like his style! I sent him a message asking about mp3s... so far nothing yet. In the meantime, I'll just keep visiting his profile. |

Hey, thanks for the tips!! I really like 'ATJAZZ - It's complete'!
Kyoto Jazz Massive is pretty good too. Joey Negro is classic, I like his sunburst collaboration.
Give me a list of all the artists you can remember that you haven't already listed. I'll give them all some good listening and see what sticks.
And do you know of artists similar in style to Deodato? He produced his fair share of cheese, but he also recorded some really nice tracks.
Some of my favorites:
Tahitti Hut
San Juan Sunset
Speak Low
Amani

Sorry man, I was out travelling.
That´s kind of hard, you see there are litterally tons of artists working that way, the problem is they often have a multi varied work, sometimes you go through the entire discography and there are 3 or 4 tunes good and the rest is cheese, know what I mean? So:
First, the list would be enormous,
Second, those kind of sounds are so rare that you would have to be searching and searching them through the whole discography ..
I often don´t like 70% of work of the artists I listen to, but they have some spacey tunes I really love, sowhat I do is, I build playlists for myself, rather than just recording cds of one artist.

Yeah, I understand. I used to work like that, and then I started buying physical albums, so invariably, some material that didn't catch my eye the first time eventually grew on me.
Right now, the amount of albums I bought within the last couple of weeks is a little ridiculous. But album compilations that have 30+ tracks at $5 is too sweet to pass up.
Some cheese will always be cheese, though, and no amount of listening will reconcile that fact. |

Bernie Worrell, period.
Bernie got the 2nd Moog ever built (Stevie Wonder got the first), so here's somebody who actually made the instrument what it is today.
You might wanna pick up this DVD:
