I really love listening to this music of Moses Mayes, it's awesome! But ...... Jamiroquai always remains my fav. It's been so many years and their music became a part of me. But above all, they have some special gift of creativity or something; they play more with their music and as iranterres said earlier, they make these unexpected transitions. That's why I love them so much, true artists, true cosmic music! |

I loved Second Ring so much that I just bought Needle To Groove on iTunes.
Now listening to the first song.
Instant eargasm. My type of funk. _________________ "The management of Jamiroquai is on the stage, oooh no!" Jason Kay - Club Citta 1993 |

Definitely needle to the groove. Creativity with no limits. Pure organic acid jazz, kind of a mixture of alternative jamiroquai and roy ayers, with some moses mayes special touch. That kind of sound is very hard to find.
Second ring is still good, but definitely more commercial (bands usually realize after a while that they have to go commercial or they will be dead).
And the first album (mm and the funk family) is funky and stylish as hell .... Someone said it sounds a bit amateur, I don´t think so, for me it´s just the way it was recorded, has a certain "garage feel" especially on the drums, but that´s understandable, a new fresh band usually has a low budget. But just listen loud "red wings", "88", "to the music","shmarck attack" ... damn I listen those loud when I go to work, it´s an instant kick. |

Most excellent. I have an unfulfilled hunger for some new Moses Mayes, so I hope they unleash a few tracks soon. |

New album comming very soon!! Can´t wait!! Hope I´m not disappointed and it has lots of instrumentals and acid jazz.
I´m as excited as I would be for a Jamiroquai album
Bring it on Nathan !! ... _________________ Away from soliloquies of sadness

I'm listening the whole album just now, and for me, the band still mantain the level, the vibe, their flow. They have changed their sound to me to something fresh, in the bag of the sound some other actual bands do, like The PB Underground or the latest BNH "Forward" LP (and I have to admit, my mind goes to the Nude Continuum's album released in 2008).
They remind me to Jamiroquai in a lot of parts of the album, specially in instrumental parts, but they have moved finding their sound. Maiko Watson with her voice fits really well with their style.
Probably some of you won't like this new Moses Mayes LP, but in their defence I have to say that they are Moses Mayes, not Jamiroquai. In my opinion comparing things is good, but not definitive (neither decisive). _________________
