Review - Istanbul/Turkey - 05/09/2011
Hello dear Jamirofans! It's been long time since i posted here!
I came back to share my reviews after the Istanbul concert which was held on September 5.
As you may know, 2003 was the first time Jamiroquai gave a concert in my country.Later on, for 8 years we had been waiting for the second concert!Well,in my point of view, that was such a long time to wait!
Also,I didnt have the chance to meet you all in Europe because I'm non-European and your countries require visa from me which is not so easy nor cheap to get
Anyway, atleast I have recently been to the second concert!I can honestly say they rocked my town!and I got excited to see them alive after 8 years! But I noticed that they are even better now!
As you may know the Istanbul and Bulgaria concert were cancelled due to Jay's injury. And then,it was rescheduled as 6th Sep. later 5th Sept which was Monday! here in Turkey, most people work till 18.30-19.00.In addition we have traffic jam all the time as 17 million people living in this town Because of this, most people were complaining about it being held on Monday.Despite that, the area was full of people after 20.30!Moreover the tickets were high-priced comparing with other foreign singers/band coming here.(just behind the stage was 261 tl, back was 108 tl).1 euro =2.45 tl at the moment.
I also saw many famous people attended the concert I didnt know they were a fan of themselves
I was there at 17.00 to be just behind the stage to savor the concert much more Fortunately,I reached my goal! And before I was in the concert area (i mean in the queqe) I saw Derrick getting off a car with a few people entering the concert area, he were passing next to me and I said 'Hi Derrick' excitingly He recognized me ( i contact him on Fb) and said hi back to me and smiled.Even that felt great! But he was in hurry so i couldnt stop him to take a pic
Later, the concert started at 21.30( which was supposed to start at 21.00) they were working on the sound system.Unfortunately, during the concert Jason Kay and we fans were not happy with the sound.Well,i was just behind one of the loudspeaker! So you may imagine my situation hahah But still, we all the fans enjoyed the concert to the fullest!
Jay Kay was not so hyper-active as he was at the last concert due to his injury but still he danced greatly and spoke some Turkish to us like 'Teşekkürler'(Thank you) and 'İyi Akşamlar Istanbul'(Good evening). That was so great to hear he was trying to say those
Other band members were really cheerful, smiling and enjoying the atmosphere They did so great, spotless performance inspite of the bad sound system!and made us speechless!I haven't felt this great before!
By the way, a girl throwed a red bra on the stage while Jay was turned to look at the bandmembers. In a second, he found out the bra on the floor, held it but he didnt find it funny and put it on the floor. He seemed not to be expecting that from an Islamic country but it had happened.
The whole concert lasted 2 hours. After they left the stage for the first time, we all cheered to have them back for the last song and ofcourse they came and sang White Knuckle Ride!
Here is the whole setlist:
1-Rock Dust Light Star
2-Main Vein
3-Cosmic Girl
4-High Times
5-Little L
6-Morning Glory
(Intro)
7-Canned Heat
8-All Good In The Hood
9-Hey Floyd
10-Feels Just Like It Should
11-Love Foolosophy
12-Use The Force
(Interlude)
13-Travelling Without Moving
14-Scam
(Break)
15-Alright
16-Deeper Underground
Encore:
17-White Knuckle Ride
I hoped they would sing 'Corner of the Earth', 'Virtuel Insanity' and 'Too Young To Die'! All in all they sang most kind of music such as funk, jazz, rockblues, electronic and even reggae and we did enjoy their show to the fullest!I hope they come back soon!
And I wish fans ,who have not listen to them alive ,can get the chance to see them as soon as possible!
Ps:Im enclosing a short video from the concert.I wish I could post a photo of mine with the bandmember(s) but I was not allowed to meet them because of the security That dissapointed me much. But still hoping someday in Europe,i will meet Jamirofans and the bandmembers in person

Thanks so much for your review, Seda!!
Too bad that the sound was not so good... but good to know that this didn't ruin your amazing night! _________________ ~ I look up to Heaven, every star I see is mine.

Thanks for your review.
I can imagine how it is when the sound is not as good as you may expect. I had the same experience in Nice. |
