[Funky Five] - *Asking Derrick 5 questions*
Hello Derrick,
let's start with our little question & answer game. Here are our funky five questions from the fans for you. Here we go:
1) We have been listening to a 41 second clip of new song "White Knuckle Ride" on the official site - is it the original song or a remix? Which concert is the video clip showing?
2) On several websites which are listing the new album, we noticed a new cover, very simple - black with white shiny buffaloman - is this the final cover for the album or a placeholder? What happend with Jay's idea to put a photograph of the fans on the cover, or will this appear in the booklet or has this plan been dropped completely?
3)What does the album title "Rock Dust Light Star" mean? What is the song RDLS about?
4) How has the transition, both creative and personal, been for you and the band to the new record contract with Mercury/Universal Music?
5) How do you think Jamiroquai's overall sound has changed/modified/evolved in the last 5 years inbetween album commitments and the new album writing process?
Thanks for your time!

Note: I am aware that some of these questions have already been answered by Jay himself in recent interviews - this happend, because it is a couple of weeks ago, that I had sent Derrick the questions. But I left them in anyways, just for your info. |

I don't think the album cover is done yet that is work still in progress!!!!!

That is a jay question to answer but i think it self explanatory once you have heard it a few times.

To be honest my mind has been so busy on making the album over the past few years i havent really thought about it to be honest, maybe in a couple of months you can ask me the same question again!!!!!! All i know is that all i wanted to do was to make the best album i have done so far, that was a promise to myself!!!!!!!

It has changed a lot due to the fact that we have played the album totally live without the machines getting involved only to record the tracks. Which we are all very proud of!!!!!!!
Hope this answers the Q's sorry its taken so long!!!!!

Very cool. Thanks, Mouse and Derrick! Are we allowed to ask other questions? Such as: Who are your musical influences? Where do you get your inspiration from, and how can one man create and play such massive, epic, intricate rhythms? (Not to discount Sola's contribution. He is awesome too! ) _________________ ~~~"To perchance upon this circumstance is something of a miracle so spiritual, it's verging on the physical."~~~ |

I think Derrik misunderstood the question. I'd expect him to refer to how the style of the music have changed from what it was until AFO to now. |
