If JMQ wants a name in US they need to get on Ping!
Then they need to get on Ping! There's already a MILLION People on it! Many of them US artists! I think its great that they have a facebook fan page and everything but this is on the bleeding edge!

I remember reading somewhere a comment that Jay said he didn't want people to forget JMQ since its been, oh what, ~5 years?!? If they want to come back and BE relevant they should do more social media stuff and that would be PING.

...or I'm just excited for them to go on it since I have an account...

They don’t need a name in the US. They have enough of a fan base to warrant the release of their albums and tour dates in major and mini major party cities stateside.

While that may be true, I don't think a band ever has "enough" fans.

When jamiroquai played in San Fransisco they played at the Fillmore. Which was a smaller venue (and I'm not complaining), but I'd like to see their full show! And I'm sure they'd appreciate larger turnouts and more bread. If I remember right I also heard that there last tour in the US was practically a flush.

What do you mean by a full show? I don’t believe they altered the set list for time. Usually their more ambitious set lists are for dates where the audience will be welcoming of the non-mainstream hits, b-sides and unreleased stuff.

If you read the difference between the San Francisco set list and the Los Angeles one you guys got the better show with Star Child (by popular demand) and two nights. I read that the Los Angeles show was sold out and the promoters couldn’t scrap together a 2nd show there.

By full show I meant their full light show. I've seen many clips of them playing large auditoriums in the UK (and more obviously) and they have a pretty sizable light show as well as video feeds and other cool "interactive" things. Because of the small size in the US (and again, I like the small shows too) they don't get to do the full blown "show."

Obviously it sucks for us as fans once a band gets "big" and we lose the intimacy in the live shows. But at the same time I don't want to be selfish and have them stay small just for my own personal desires.

I agree that they have a sizable fan base overseas and a "large" fan base in the US. BUT, being a musician myself I've played larger venues just in Portland in bands that are much less talented than JMQ. I just want to see them thrive! I know that if roles were reversed I'd always want to be reaching more fans...

An elaborate back lighting is attractive but it’s hard to justify it when they have to play smaller venues. Jay’s temperamental so I’m very grateful he bothers mounting a US leg at all.

I look forward to a tour to the U.S.
I don't care a thing about the how detailed the lighting is! I'm concerned more for good sound and would probably prefer a smaller venue. But smaller the venue, the smaller amount of tickets available- I don't want it to sellout before I get tickets! (But I have a contact for the smaller venue!)

It all depends on how big this album is. I'm sure they will have to wait to see the U.S. response before choosing arenas.

I guess only the name of the festival was "Pheonix"...the gig was in Long Marston, which is located in the UK.
