First Impressions of RDLS
Hey guys:
I'm completely new to the forum, but I have been following Jamiroquai since I first played the dance edit of "Space Cowboy" as a 16 year old Top 40 deejay in the States in 1995. I have enjoyed the evolution of the band and I am very happy with what I'm hearing.
I've noticed with the new release a very interesting trend. When Dynamite was released, "Feels Just Like It Should" did not track well here in the States. However, it was an excellent promo track here and actually was the soundtrack to several commercials. When the Dynamite single hit, I was in Greece and Italy in the Summer of 2005 and it was being played EVERYWHERE. I loved it! I'll never forget taking a cab from the clubs back to the hotel in Mykonos Greece and Dynamite came on--I had hoped I'd come home to the US and hear it on the air. Unfortunately not. "Seven Days in Sunny June" had modest success here.
The point I'm trying to make is that Jay releases his tracks 1. Dance, then 2. Ballad, then 3. Pop. Such as in Dynamite: 1. Feels Just Like It Should/Dynamite, 2. Seven Days in Sunny June, 3. Don't Give Hate a Chance. Looks like this will repeat (even though Blue Skies is the first "official release", WKR is getting airplay now: 1. WKR, 2. Blue Skies, 3. ?
I can only hope WKR gets airplay here (I heard it on BBC Radio 1 this morning on satellite radio), but I think Blue Skies will have a shot.
I'm super excited for the new album and I will travel wherever Jay shows up here in the US! |
