Jay Kay to open a West London Hash cafe & bar...
Hello everyone ,
One nasty cold , and fourteen packs of Halls lozenges later, I'm feeling much better, though each pack of Halls brought a new buzz..lol! Anyway, looks like Jay Kay is taking is love of cannabis to a higher state , here's a article I read on Jamiroquai.com from the April 25th issue of the Daily Mirror:
*JAY KAY IS A POT IDOL: He wants to run his own canabis cafe. He's made no secret of his fondness of cannabis. Not only has he called for it to be legalised, but he once rolled a massive joint on the stage in Glasgow and invited the crowd to share the drug with him.
But now singer Jay Kay wants to take his love for the herb onto a, er, higher level. For the millionaire plans to open his own exclusive cannabis cafe in the West End of London. We're told he's found someone he wants to go into partnership with and is currently looking for a suitably posh venue. And the Jamiroquai satr has told pals he's willing to splash out more than 1 million pounds to get his Amsterdam-style project off the ground.
Our well-placed source revealed, "Jay sees it as a cooler and more laid-back version of the Groucho Club. He's meant to be a silent partner but it's going to be hard to sto him from having a hands-on role in the business. He's determined to get this project off the ground. He's always said that alcohol is more dangerous than marijuana and if people can buy drink, why can't they buy that?"
Other stars like Robbie Williams and Ronnie Wood already have exclusive bars in the centre of London, but so far none have gone as far as Jay. Last night a spokesperson for the singer said, "He's always going on about this. It pops up now and again but he's never got anywhere with the idea. I think it's something he's going to do when he's got downtime between recording commitments. But nothing's been decided yet."
However, Scotland Yard has other ideas. A senior source told us: "It's no secret that these days most people found with a small amount of cannabis for personal use would be most unlikely to face prosecution. But selling drugs as a business definitely won't be tolerated. We know that in Holland it's OK to sell small amounts of dope in coffee shops. But at the moment our laws don't allow it. Anyway planning to open a cannabis cafe anywhere in the UK would be way out of line and we'd have no option but to arrest them and get the business closed down."
In February, Simon Woodroffe, founder of Japanese restuarant chain Yo! Sushi, announced plans to open a string of upmarket cannabis cafes in London, Edinburgh and Glasgow. And he hopes Yo! Blow will become Britain's first chain of "elegant" cannabis bars. His plans include rooms where the cannabis smoke is pumped into the air so customers don't need to smoke tobacco to become intoxicated.
Well, well, maybe this summer, we could see a Jay Kay hash cafe, not a bad idea, could be a untapped market for Jay and give him more of two kinds of green: money & marijuana! Keep up the great work CosmicMouse and everyone! Peace!
