Whats the next direction?
If RDLS is a success and Jami is back in the publics mind after all the touring, what direction do you see the band going in? I mean how much longer can Jay fly helicopters in music videos as a 40 year old guy.
I'll tell you why this band was so good back in the day. Jay had real experiences and motivations to channel when writing. I mean being down and out without a real path as a young kid gave him edge to draw from. Now its all fast cars and I've been hurtin. I liked about half of rdls so dont think this is just an old acid jazz fan ranting. Anyway, what is everyones realistic predictions for the future?

In the future, I think it would be really cool if the band produced an entirely instrumental album. Maybe as a soundtrack to a movie perhaps.

Instead of singing, Jay could act as the funk maestro.

I think he will do what he wants! who was thinking he could be pilot helicopters?? he isn't old, he want a family ( true/false?) and this can stop a certain time his music... I hope he does not stop music again 5 years... his music came back to something more jazzy, why not more?

he stay on his " critical songs of the world", and the maturity of his 40 years old...

I hope youre right about taking some more steps back to jazz. If they wanna be relevant again, they can't wait another 5 years to put out another album. Then again, I feel like Jay is comfortable with his fanbase. He seems fine with making quality music and if the fans like it so be it. I just wish we could see a huge worldwide revival like the TWM era. Whats a realistic timeline for the band now? Touring now through next year of 2011. Take 2012 off. Next album 2014? Has there been any info about the deal with Mercury? I'm sure its nothing like the Sony 8 album deal but did he sign something similar or could it be an album by album kinda thing?

I would like him to drop all the sentimental crap and do an entire album for the clubs, which is what he's demonstrated being best at in the last ten years.

Steps back to jazz? No thanks, they could only be mellifluous, uninspired steps.

if by clubbing songs you mean stuff like white knuckle ride? I don't know why so many people like it. Its one of the worst on rdls in my opinion. Soooo repetitive and too simple.

Two words: travel genies Rolling Eyes

White Knuckle Ride, Dynamite, Starchild, (Don't) Give Hate A Chance, Runaway, You Give Me Something, Little L, Love Foolosophy, Cosmic Girl, Alright...

That's the right direction, in my opinion. Seven Days In Sunny June, Blue Skies, Tallulah, Corner Of The Earth etc = wrong direction.

LOL

Haha! I love it! Great idea, only cuz this is where I'm back to!
Today I love the music on my radio - all stuff you'd hear in the clubs. The music with that incessant beat! Lyrics a bit shallow. Groovin, bumpin beats. Look at the E.N.D.- BEP!

But this trend will change soon. Sad
