Setlist
Anyone else think the current setlist is dire? Same old songs they've been playing for years...
yawn.

yeah, they started the tour with a great setlist, including many of the greatest songs on RDLS (hey floyd, angeline and Hanging over)
but now they are playing the old classics and although the arrangements are very good they are starting to get boring.
I already posted on Derrick, Sola and Rob Twitter a message asking what happened to the setlist, but no one answered. :S |

The setlists looks like a "Greatest Hits tour" rather than a "Rock Dust Light Star Tour". |

Yes, and what about Fast Persuader?
I think they only played it once or twice during the past year, that's such a shame.
I know Jay really loves this track himself, so it remains a mystery why they hardly play it. |

I'd really like us to try to do something.
I don't know if writing the guys will help in any way, but I don't know what else can we do.
I'd hate to see this tour end without seeing them playing more songs of the last album. |

I have been speaking about this with some of the bandmembers and for me it is absolutely clear: It is Jay's decision alone. And he decides more or less spontaneously, depending on the atmosphere, the crowd - just before or even during the gig. I don't know his reasons or criteria, but the majority of the audience seems always to be happy with the choice. The mass of people want to hear the "classics" or the "hits" and maybe one of their personal favourite songs which obviously differs from fan to fan.
Only us hard-core fans who follow each and every setlist are the ones who are moaning all the time because we would love to have changes.
Also, they have 2-3 versions of many songs, which Jay switches spontaneously as well during the gig, or even during the song.
For us internet junkies in front of our monitors, it looks the same, but at the gigs it works for the audience - at least for the majority.
It's not easy to please ALL. From what I know, some of the bandmembers would love to play different songs, they might even tell Jay that, but in the end HE is the one who decides. I would love to ask him about his choices in an interview one day!
I agree that it would be better to include more RDLS tracks on the setlist.
But there is no point in writing letters to bandmembers. Jay is the one who has to be asked! _________________ ~ I look up to Heaven, every star I see is mine.

yeah, that's what I thought. And it even makes sense.
I just think that being the Rock Dust Light Start Tour, it is the perfect moment for them to show how good are the new songs. Who knows if they are going to play them again in the future.
So bad we don't have any way to contact Jay. |

i just lost ALL the performances since 2008...i didn't hear/watch anything!!
it's the first time i am not updated with the setlist, arrangements and so on....
i feel lazy about searching for stuff in youtube and so cause it use to go infinite when you start, so this link dye posted (in the wrong place?) is the first thing i heard).
i don't know about the setlist, as i said but i think jam fans are getting quite exigent with EVERYTHING about jamiroquai and thinking they (we) have the right of choosing every decision they take.. _________________

Oh no, you are wrong, I don't feel like I have any right to ask anything to them. They don't own me anything at all and they can do whatever they want to.
I'm just saying that I would like to see more songs from RDLS in the RDLS tour. What is wrong in that?
regarding your lost bootlegs, what does have to do with this topic? |

My guess is that they are still finishing the actual RDLS tour with indoor arenas ending in Turkey(unfortunatley cancelled). Then they move onto the festivals where the setlist might alter as they come back to the countries they have appeared at in the April tour.
So basically as they are back playing to virtually the same fans THEN the setlist will be different but i can't see it changing that much.
Festivals need certain tracks that come over well & not get lost in the outdoors like RDLS, CG, VI, Deeper(unfortunately!!), CH, YGMS, Alright, FJLIS, SC, LF & im still unsure about WKR
Unfamiliar tracks can sour the atmosphere where the crowd is diverse. If for example Stevie Wonder started to play his whole new album i would be a bit miffed as i LOVE the classics _________________

For me the ideal setlist for this tour, of the songs they've played so far -and taking into account the total of songs- it would be something like this:
Rock Dust Light Star
Main Vein
Smoke & Mirrors
Little L
Canned Heat
Lifeline
Hooked Up
When You Gonna Learn
She's A Fast Persuader
Space Cowboy
Travelling Without Moving
Scam/Hey Floyd
White Knuckle Ride
Feels Just Like It Should |
