Jameerica, I don't remember if I have already said this, but at Rock im Park 2006, last year, he said- I don't know what happened, sounded like he forgot the lyrics - but during Deeper Underground he sang "Shoot people with a pocket full of money." I think that was the Space Cowboy in him. I think SC is not even sleeping, just in a cage, locked up in the celeb Jay, and I think there was a little moment where he managed to get out and live out his Space Cowboy vibe. You and me, Jameerica, if you wanna help me, I think we can destroy the cage where Space Cowboy is locked up in. Shall we try it? Don't you worry, I won't ever stay at home cooking for my husband, because I won't have a husband! Maybe I won't even have a boyfriend...I think we just have to kick his ass a bit, you know, what you said, remind him of his old ideas and stuff. And then I'll hope his old spirit returns - the Return of the Space Cowboy?

if there is that old spirit still in him,i'll gladly do whatever it takes to get it back!

Thank you Tlum..

Looks like they are banned from Turkey too...

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article1738981.ece

Albania, a country not known for flamboyant displays of wealth, has opened its borders – and Presidential Palace – to the Gumball Rally, a group of Western millionaires driving hugely expensive cars, that has banned from Germany and Turkey.

Since its inception seven years ago the Rally, a seven-day dash for the rich, famous and plain silly, has shot across several continents without diplomatic incident. Until now.

En route from London on Sunday on the 3,000-mile “cultural tour” that costs £28,000 to enter, the Gumballers and their Ferraris, Lamborghinis, ice-cream vans and taxis were on their way to Frankfurt airport to be flown to Istanbul when they were pulled over by the German police at the border. The officers took away the keys of the first 50 drivers and fined each of them.

Despite months of negotiations with German authorities, who were more than happy to have the rally go through their country, one officer seems to have sent a letter to all 17 countries involved, warning them that an “illegal race” was about to zoom through their streets. He may have misinterpreted the word “rally” as “race”. Organisers insist it is more of a tour taking in cultural stops than a madcap dash towards a finishing line.

As a result, Turkey refused to accept the 240 drivers, who included the rapper Xzibit, the model Caprice and the Jamiroquai singer Jay Kay, disappointing fans that were waiting along the official route.

Albania, though, has bent over backwards to welcome them in the hope that the rally, which was due to arrive late last night, would boost tourism and, in the words of the UN, “highlight Albania’s potential as an eco and cultural destination”. In a letter sent to Gumball by the UN resident co-ordinator said: “UN agencies in Albania are pleased to partner with the Gumball 3000 Rally.

“This year, Albania has been included in the itinerary and we are pleased to work with you under the government of Albania’s hosting of this event to make the event a success for the country.”

The Albanian Government has even upgraded and renovated a rickety wooden bridge because it was too steep for the low-slung sports cars that were about to travel over it.The drivers have also been invited to the President’s official residence for a five-course meal.

Sali Berisha, the Albanian Prime Minister, said: “I guarantee the organizers of our highest esteem and willingness to fully support Gumball 3000 in its endeavour in Albania.”

Maximillion Cooper, who organises the rally, said yesterday that the rally was not a race but a “cultural international tour”.

He added: “All vehicles are abiding by all laws and road regulations. Contrary to the letter issued by the German Ministry of the Interior, the event is not a competition nor a race and is not illegal whatsoever.”

Sorry, but I just can't stop being angry about that, I just need to get this out:
- A cultural tour...at 200km/h? Can you actually see anything of the things you're driving past?
- It's JAY'S money? I don't think so. It's partly MY money and I want him to spend it for something helpful, not for a celebrity rally. If i had known he's gonna spend it for such a CRAP, I wouldn't have bought the High Times DVD AND CD. Should have listened to that voice inside of me: 'Hey! Lydia! Be sensible! Do you really wanna return to him after he treated you THIS WAY??? Do you really wanna forgive such an unfunky ass? That fucking idiot? Do you really wanna give up your resistance against him?' I think I should stop buying his music and start to download it ILLEGALLY from the fucking Internet to get a damage to his bank account.
- Jay's got REALLY better things to do, and I'm not talking about Revolution or saving the world, but seemingly this guy needs to have some - i mean A LOT OF sex. Of a handsome heterosexual guy you can't expect something better if he hasn't "had sex in ages!!!" (Quote of Jay) So I think he should rather look for a girlfriend instead of doing a "cultural tour through Europe" for 40000€. I know it's not easy for him to find a girlfriend who really loves HIM and not his (wasted) money, but, come on, who was his last girlfriend actually? Denise? Did he have something with Heidi Klum? I heard of other guys having had something with Heidi in the time 2002/2003 ( Wink ) but Jay? I don't think so. And when did he split up with Denise? 2000? 2001? So he hasn't had sex for at least 6 YEARS? You know, what I wanna say is that he always cries "Oh, I want a girlfriend! And a family!" But, Jay, if you want a girlfriend, you gotta get up and look for one! Jay doesn't get up and look for one. So I doubt he really wants to share his life with a girl.
- This rally is for people who don't only know what to do with their money, but also don't know what to do with themselves. They're bored! Because: What do you do and want actually if you already did and have everything? I'm sure we'll get to see "Suidical Celebs" in the next time: Stars killing themselves because they've already tried everything except suicide and are bored of life so they throw themselves under the next year's Gumball rally "just for fun of course". Connected to this, they wanna get attention and this is very poor for Jay at least because he used to get attention with his music, now he gets attention with appearing on celeb parties, drunk fighting with paparazzis who weren't even waiting for him, but for Lindsay Lohan (!!!) and - well - this. In Germany he's kind of unknown. MTV didn't even have Runaway in their clip rotation. But I can imagine they had Virtual Insanity on heavy rotation. I've even seen Jamiroquai on a website about One Hit Wonders.
- You know, continuing this, I don't want him to lock himself up in the studio, but he could have been on tour during the whole last time. Now again, he could be touring round Europe instead of racing. And that way I think he'd get more to see of the landscape than in a fast car at night. I mean, what was that last year? A mini festival tour? How long was the Dynamite tour? In November, I've been on a concert of a band who are on tour since their album release somewhere in May or June last year. They were already in Germany in summer last year for three shows, then they returned in autumn for another three shows, one of them in Stuttgart, where I was, sold out, I was quite lucky to even get a ticket for that show still, but anyway, and this summer they're returning again for another three shows! When was the last time that Jamiroquai were in Stuttgart? In 1999? I think that was the only time ever that they were there. Some fan told me he doesn't get to fill the venues completely, but they used to, didn't they? Now guess why, people are not blind and deaf, they're just not interested in him anymore, that's it. His - I mean their message and the fact that they did something funky and real in times of faked computer beats got them fans. Now Jay's just one of many, with lyrics with no message. I think with AFO for example, he at least tried to tell something and tried to get along with the fact that his girlfriend just left him, but Dynamite has in my opinion the songs with the worst lyrics ever. Songs like Dynamite or Electric Mistress or Loveblind are just cheap, lyrically. I don't have to think about what Jay's trying to tell me because he doesn't want to tell me anything with such songs. They simply have no message, like many of those (I'll use that word) POP songs. They get lost in the mass of superficialness. That's really really sad that a Jamiroquai song gets lost in the mass.

Lydster,

You seem overly invested in Jay Kay as a person. He is a musician. Do you like his music? If yes, go-to-store-buy-album-be-happy. If not, ignore-all-things-Jamiroquai.

His personal life doesn’t really matter. You seem really frustrated that he hasn’t lived up to your standards. He doesn’t have to do that.

I believe in being ‘green’ – I have my compost heap, and I sort and recycle all my household waste and things like that. But sometimes even I throw my used teabags in the trash! That doesn’t negate all the other stuff I do.

Jay has just more time and money and a higher profile to fail the ‘used teabag’ test.

It is really funny article and I hope I translate the quotes cerrectly.

Quote:
...blah, blah, blah . . . (they write about they don`t rally know why was Jay in Bratislava 2 days earlier then other gumballers)...

Jay said (imagine his speech) : "You know, we are fast! The fastest. We arrived two days earlier then the others!"

He spent most time in pubs drinking Slovakia (mayB Czech Wink ) beer. He wilingly posed to everyone who wanted foto with him and once he showed his passport to prove that he really is JK.

His rally team colleague Nigel Cooper said (really good joke Smile ): "All the time I`m sitting in the car when Jay is driving. I wake up only when navigation device is saying something!"

He said no to all requests for the official interview - he won`t let another gumballers known about he is in Bratislava at the moment (how paradoxical!).

Rally halted after arrest of Britons in fatal crash
This actually just came over the newswire...sad.....

http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/driving/article1744609.ece

Rally halted after arrest of Britons in fatal crash (not Jay)

The Gumball 3000 rally was called off last night after two British drivers in a Porsche were involved in a high-speed accident in which a man died and his wife was injured.

Organisers of the 3,000-mile tour, which began in 1999, took the decision after Nick Morley, the brother of a wealthy property developer, and Matthew McConville were in a collision with a Volkswagen Golf in the Republic of Macedonia. The two men were arrested on the border with Albania.

They were part of a convoy of 120 cars driven by pop stars, models and businessmen who each paid £28,000 to drive from London to Athens and back, via Dubrovnik and Germany, in a week.

The rally, which was inspired by “Cannonball” Baker’s coast-to-coast motorcycle race across the United States in about 54 hours in 1933, will not travel any farther this year.

Maximillion Cooper, the organiser, told The Times that he felt the rally should be stopped as a mark of respect to the man who died. He said: “We are very saddened by what has happened and I feel that it would be wrong to continue. On behalf of everyone at Gumball I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to [the man's] family. We are doing everything we can for them.”

Ivo Kotevski, a Macedonian police spokesman, told Associated Press: “Both Britons are testifying before an investigative magistrate in the town of Struga, where a decision will be made whether to hold them in custody or not.”

Vladimir Cepuljoski, 67, died of injuries while being transported to a hospital in Skopje after the accident on Wednesday night. His wife, Margarita, remains in a critical condition.

The police spokesman added: “Two British citizens left the scene of the accident. Shortly afterwards, border authorities found them in another [vehicle] . . . at the Qafasan border crossing with Albania.”

They were arrested on charges of endangering traffic and abandoning an accident victim. If convicted, the charges may lead to up to a year in prison.

A spokesman for the rally said: “The Golf pulled out from a stop sign and Mr Morley and McConville tried to swerve around it but clipped the side of the car.”

Mr Cooper said that the rally was not a race but a “cultural international tour”. Turkey had refused to accept the 240 participants on safety grounds.

Nick Morley, 29, lives in Altrincham with his older brother, Oliver, the managing director of a large property development company. Matt McConville, his co-driver, is the company’s property director.

Celebrities who have taken part in the rally include the model Caprice Bourret, Orlando Bloom, the star of The Lord of the Rings, and Jay Kay, the lead singer with Jamiroquai.
