Today, 14 years of the release of Emergency On Planet Earth
Hello Talkers,
That's right, 14 years ago the journey began, and thank God it's going to continue.
An excellent debut album, an acid jazz re-boot in the early 90's that contained some of the most powerful songs lyrically speaking, When You Gonna Learn, Too Young To Die and the underrated Revolution 1993.
Happy birthday Emergency On Planet Earth! (EOPE for the friendly neighbourhood)
D!

It's sad that such a work of art had some of its most lovely tunes auch as WYGL (6++ minutes down to to 4), TYTD (10 minutes to 6), IILIIDI (7 minutes down to five) and EOPE (god-knows how long down to 3 minutes) irrationally cut down to conform your pop kid's attention span...
What's even more saddenning is that the album's message is today more true and needed than ever before...
EOPE is a great, overlooked album, no doubt about it... But I guess it's only the musical elite who can enjoy this album fully, even though I myself sometimes feel it's tad bit too loud... Nothing wrong with it all, really. |

Negative? Far from it, the album's a little gem. Brings some fresh breeze inbetween the bubblegum pop shite of the 00's, although it should've remained uncut, with all those long songs actually ending, not fading out as they do... Bad, bad $ony!! |

Nor will I! In fact, being that it's its "birthday", it's a good excuse to listen to it now! _________________

Hello,
Ahhh....EOPE, still a MAJORLY underrated debut album, and continues, as duely and poetically noted by my fellow brothers and sisters, to be the album that is more important in the modern times than in the early 90s . Sometimes I wonder if a young Jamiroquai had gotten MORE political and more conservational back in the early days, like hooking with Greenpeace for a few concerts and actually got involved in protests, if their message would have come out more true, but being on a big label as they were, I would think it would have been more deconstructive than progressive, in those more imaginative 1990s. But their message, although lifted and peddled around by the like of U2's Bono and others, still rings true to those music fans whom are willing to give up on their "hollow pop music" and discover further magic that can come with joining and contributing to a band's fan community. 14 years may NOT read on the radar of the average music fan, but it still shows the power of the music, even if the world doesn't change overnight OR world leaders, whom fumble and fuss about their visions of the world, never institute change for the better....the singular responsibilty of man's actions and reactions in treatment of his enviroment WILL change someday, and that day may not me now OR never....but let it be said that is ALWAYS possible to make CHANGE. Happy 14th EOPE, your a diamond among the rough ! Cheers!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

Yay! EOPE is IMHO the best jmq album. I really like that thing somebody said - that in those days singing about world poverty and corruption made people laugh at you, while these days you get a medal. Good on you young jk, and happy birthday EOPE |
