Question for the drummers...
Please, has someone a hint where I can download play-alongs for my little drummer-son? With play-along I mean songs which contain the music but without drums (and voice), so practising will be more fun for him. Jamiroquai would be best of course... hehe..., but anything else is good as well.
Thanks,

Thanks Marina - I will have a look, although it's not really what I meant. I am not searching for lessons, just for well-known songs but which have left-out the drum-part so he can play along to the music - as if he is playing with a band.
Of course I would prefer a jamiroquai song, but I guess there won't be any available without drums...
Thanks anyways!!

I don't know where to get those type of songs without the drums, but you can also equalize any tune you like by using a separated equalizing program, and diminish the bass and drums. I use Cool Edit Pro, and with time, patience, and by touching and clicking every option, you might find something a little bit closer to what you're looking for.
Hope that helps.

When I learned drums, I did it this way:
1. Find a good quality MIDI file of a song I liked.
2. Remove the drum track with a MIDI editor (I used Cakewalk Pro Audio)
3. Record in on tape, bring it wherever I had to practice and play along.
Of course, MIDI files don't have the same quality as the original songs, but it was good enough for me to practice. It works especially well if you use a good quality sound card.
Here's an example of a MIDI file with drum track removed.

Freeetz's idea is a simple yet effective one. Also, an interesting exercise is using non-drummed tracks, though there aren't that many around. Good for improvising! I'll research some more _________________
