Jamiroquai @ "All Dig Down"!
buffaloman_R Hello, buffaloman_R

Cool Interesting, VERY interesting, just spotted on Funkin and BOY, this will REALLY make the fans closer to the band during the new album sessions Cool :

According to an article in the Guardian newspaper (UK) [LINK:
http://tinyurl.com/28ghor ) , Jamiroquai are one of a number of
artists who have signed up to all dig down (short for All Digital
Downloads: LINK: http://www.alldigdown.com ), a new service which
allows artists to sell music directly to fans.

"Artists can design their own studio pages on the site, and earn
revenue from record sales and royalty payments from tracks streamed
from the site."

Other artists who have signed up include Jamie Cullum, the Verve
and the Klaxons.

More information about this can read at the Guardian website, and
the full alldigdown.com website is set to launch on 20 September.

Smile I have already e-mailed them for more info and to become a user when they launch in a week or 2, you can too, just drop them a e-mail at buildmeahouse@alldigdown.com , I will let you all know what they say when I get a reply back Smile. So what do you think, does this confirm that the new Jamiroquai album sessions/demos will periodically offered for pay download after "mixing" OR will they go along with signing a 1 album deal with a big label to get wide release of the new material? Wink Thanks as always to Funkin and Sister Deesh for finding this info Wink! Cheers!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

It is fine, I suppose... this means we can get unreleased or rare stuff. That was the idea when the jamiroquai.co.uk launched with the AFO era, or at least that's what Jay said in an interview, I never heard anything interesting, so I guess it didn't worked, or they didn't do anything.

But I hope we can still find the 'physical' cd in a REAL store, I'm the kind of guy who likes open the plastic, sit down, but on the cd in a cd-player and listen the album while reading the credits and stuff. Heck, I could even buy the vinyl :/ but buying separate songs from the internet? that's not my thing really, but if there are interesting stuff.... I guess you could count me in.

I Know, all my burned bootlegs will not compare to my silvers.
But, if there is no "original" ..........

(and it also saves you from removing that extremely irritating plastic cover!!!!! You don't wanna damage the box but sometimes...aaahhhhh i hate the plastic cover that, sometimes, is so hard to remove)

buffaloman_R Hello again, buffaloman_R

Very Happy In a pretty cool piece of new supplementary news concerning Jamiroquai @ AllDigDown, Funkin just reported the following and I just can't fathom getting new Jamiroquai material for next to nothing Very Happy :

After the recent news item about Jamiroquai signing up to
AllDigDown where they can sell music directly to fans, the Daily
Telegraph newspaper (UK) is reporting that Jamiroquai are rumoured to
be thinking about selling music for little or no money at all. This
is exactly what Radiohead have recently done, giving fans the
opporunity to pay whatever price they want for their album.

"The performers that give away their music for free are expected to
make their money from sales of concert tickets and merchandise.

"They'll all be thinking about it now," said Stuart Clarke at Music
Week. "Any big name that is out of contract such as Jamiroquai and
Oasis will now see it as an option."

The full article can be read at the Telegraph website (LINK:
http://tinyurl.com/32ctvk ).
* Wink Massive thanks to Funkin Site for this: http://funkin.com Wink *

Very Happy So, what do you make of this development, could Jamiroquai offer new material for a fan determined price Very Happy ? Cause, that would be VERY SWEET if it had some reality behind this, not basing everything on overall sales and money made and giving more control in fair exchange of money in the fan's hands rather an endless big label pricing goal. Discuss and thanks for listening! Cheers!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

ref radiohead fans could decide for themselves what to pay for the new music. it seems that people who paid nothing in a survey did say they felt guilty. it will be an interesting way to sell music but i still like to have a real cd on my shelf, but then i said i preferred records before cds so who knows times change.

That would be great... though I'd probably end up buying the actual "physic" CD anyway.

2indifferent

I honestly don't know, I still find this whole music/internet business a little... 'abstract' is the word?
I mean, we've come to a time where the work of months and maybe years of an artist is compressed into a 5 MB file in a folder that can be shared and shared and shared.
I'm the vinyl and CD suporter, I can't help it! ^^, luckily there are years and years ahead of us before that gets really old.
I'm gonna be the one walking to the soon-to-be-extinct music store, and Im gonna buy the album like that.
