Long Way Down stars Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman were joined by a host of celebrity names last night at an exclusive Biker Party to raise money for charity.
The highlight of the evening event at Battersea Park in London was a charity auction which raised a total of £201,300.
The top seller was a BMW R1200 GS Long Way Down Replica which was painted in half of Charley Boorman’s paint scheme and the other to replicate Ewan McGregor’s bike which sold for a whopping £50,000.
Also selling big was one of the Nissan Nivara support vehicles which went to the highest bidder for £42K, an African holiday for four people that cost one lucky bidder £13,000 and a Gary Hutchins Edbanger guitar which was so sought after they agreed to produce two more the same all selling for £9000 each.
Celebrity stars Jay Kay from Jamiroquai and actor Simon Pegg both auctioned items of their own.
Simon Pegg sold his Nike trainers from his latest film ‘Run Fat Boy Run’ for £1,700 and Jay Kay gave away his Monkey Bike he used backstage on his live tour for £6000 and Troy Corser bought the singer’s personal hovercraft for £5,000.
Damon Hill forked out £4,000 for two VIP passes to a WSB race of his choice courtesy of Yamaha Moto Italia and Ewan McGregor bought six fashion dresses for his wife Eve for £10,000.
Other personalities including Elle Macpherson and James Nesbitt enjoyed the evening which included live music from the Magic Numbers and Beth Orton.
The costs for staging the event were covered in full by sponsors Nokia, Total, Nissan and Belstaff meaning every penny raised went directly to- Unicef, Riders for Health and CHAS.
