New Provisional Jamiroquai Songs (Copyright listings)
Hello there,
I know I have been missing in action for awhile, but work always comes in the way of my freetime I'm sorry to say. Anyway, I was looking around the ASCAP/BMI website today (A Repository series of sites that lists copyrighted song writing credits, mostly used to parley royalities to the right parties) and came across some new Jamiroquai copyrighted songs listed. I know there was a topic about this in the past, but here are the provisional songs found, all with pretty all the bandmembers and JK's writing credits, a majority having JK's primary writing credits, I put some "NEW" next to the new songs I noticed in addition:
NEW JAMI SONGS:
- Ain't No
- Bite Our Style
- Confusion
- Crazy Life
- Don't Have To Prove It (NEW)
- Heaven
- How It Should Be
- In The Sunshine
- Jamiroquai ( No kidding! , must be a EOPE era outtake?!? )
- Sunshine In Your Sky (NEW)
- Togetherland (NEW)
- Two Completely Different Thing (NEW)
LINK: http://tinyurl.com/2vllex
I would say about 75% of these songs were probably composed/recorded/continue to sit in the vault/etc. during the "Sony/BMG years" of Jamiroquai, but some of these new song notes are quite interesting! Anyway, please discuss, could this be some early sign of the new material titles to come OR just yet to be released material ? Anyway, thanks for listening and Cheers!
Sincerely,

Basing myself on the song titles, those do sound like Jamiroquai don't you think?
'Togetherland' reminds me of Boogie Wonderland from EW&F, and 'Sunshine in your Sky 'certainly sounds like a Jamiroquai song
Mm... interesting find Brent!
We should ask the guys about this (mainly Derrick or Sola since they are the oldest members)

Interesting find, though with these songs, if you take note of the BMI Work# (and those of the other known Jamiroquai songs) I think you can slot these 'new' songs into their respective era and sort of figure out a year or time when they would have been registered with this BMI group.
Some of these unknown song titles could well be demos or finished tracks that weren't regarded suitable to be on an album or whatever, but then if you look a little harder, some of these 'new' songs aren't new at all.
For instance, 'Bite Our Style' is actually a Missy Elliott track from '97 that contains a sample from Morning Glory...
That 'Jamiroquai' track, if you look at the songwriting credits, contains input from Joe Wheeler, the guy who was sampled on High Times...
Also, nothing has been registered with a BMI Work# later than either of Runaway or Radio, so I would think these unknown titles are old songs. One that does come very close though is 'Going Deeper', which has a # not much before... Could this be the 'Gozilla is a killer' version of Deeper Underground? Maybe it wasn't registered until recently? I do remember watching one of the 'Greatest Hits' interviews where Jay mentions listening to it 'just the other day' or something (I think he does a bit of the riff in the interview if I remember right)
Interestingly, Max Beesley is listed as co-songwriter on two of these tracks, 'Heaven' and 'Life Force' - He's the guy who's listed in the TWM liner notes as doing the percussion on Funktion. Perhaps these are two tracks from the same recording session...?
Brent, those titles you've done in bold (except 'Two Completely Different Thing' - which looks like its a Dynamite era track) all have #'s that would place them in the EOPE era. If you look at the number for Togetherland, it's directly before TYTD. |

I'm as interested in getting new old-era songs as anyone. If only we had a friend in a high position in sony... . Hopefully one day this unreleased material will be liberated. Thanks for the info. _________________ Bass to jazz.... j-j-j-jazz to bass... |

Hello again,
Hmm, that is a good valid point, Brother Jan, there is always that possibility . Thank you for the always amazing info examination Brother Andrew, you of course are VERY RIGHT, these could be some of the unused stray EOPE era songs, and in some cases, just more nuggets to look forward in a future Jami Boxset ( Which we could be due for in less than 10 years !) ! Still, I do question if they could just be "shortened song titles" to known Jami songs, for instance "Sunshine In Your Sky" OR "In The Sunshine", could have been working titles for "Seven Days In Sunny June". But anyway, still interesting stuff to talk about, thank you all for your replies and I will let you know when I see more unknown songs listed ! Cheers!
Sincerely,

i think we will see all that Symphonized stuff and other album songs being released when Jamiroquai gets dead!
almost the same was happening with Michael Jackson... in the last years, a lot of unreleased material saw the lights!
i really want to hear the Zender songs with Jamiroquai after and before TWM! its almost a dream! haha _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

Yeah some outakes with Zender in the symphonised era would be fantastic. Also there must be a few non album tracks from the first three eras, like bullet. Speaking of which I would love to get hold of the long version of bullet (circa 8 mins I believe) Jay talked about.
I think the most likely unreleased material we will get will be sunkronised outakes with N. Fyffe (many more tracks were recorded but not put on the album, right?). That would be not as good as Zender stuff, but still pretty nice. I'm willing to bet that Jay wouldn't want to be giving royalties to Zender if an unreleased material box set was released. So... we'll have to see. _________________ Bass to jazz.... j-j-j-jazz to bass... |
