You can see some jamily balloons.

It was a great experience being with the jamily again and a pleasure to meet people for the first time including Meike, Sandra, Koni, Lyes, Anders (my sidekick!), Suzie or Shoozy , leeloo, Jay F, Maxud & girlfriend, Rinaldo ( with a dinkey donkey t-shirt) & i apologise if i have left anyone out .
Special thanks to Victor for going to so much trouble with the dvd's and i am really sorry for the misunderstanding with the security - i feel so guilty but it happened so quickly.

Hi all!
Firstly, my hugest hugest HUGEST thanks to everyone who was at the gig. I am really sorry I didn't get to meet you all, and sorry that we didn't get to spend more time with each of you. As you could all tell, things were quite insane for us!
We loved playing on that stage. The Tobit people really looked after our every need and it was such a wonderful feeling to play on that big stage and have the Jamily down the front cheering for us, and many of you singing along. Without a doubt the most special moment in my life to date!
Hugest special thanks to Meike, who made this whole event possible for us. It was so wonderful to meet the Mouse finally and we are really looking forward to visiting you again next week!
After the gig I came down into the audience to see the Jamily, but I was overwhelmed by the number of people who were asking for my autograph or a photo with me. It was very strange, but I was glad that we had made people happy with our music.
When the Heavies played we got down the front with the Jamily and I had the time of my life. I nearly cried during "You Are the Universe" (that might not be the name of the song, but its the first lyric of the chorus). Made me feel so high and happy. The song for me summed up where my life is at this point. We have had so many challenges on this tour so far. It has seemed like at every turn we have had a major mishap or slap in the face, but after so many setbacks we had finally made it there, and shared a stage with some amazing bands that we have worshipped since childhood.... and then Simon Bartholomew looks at me and Lija and says "Is Nude Continuum in the house?!"... that was so special. Especially when the whole Jamily cheered with us. I felt like we were finally with our soul family. Surrounded by soul mates
This was my 4th Jamiroquai gig, and by far it was the best. Part of this was because the stage manager let us sit in front of the guard rail (right near where Maxud was), and we had the best (and ONLY) seats in the house. Jay kay came up to us several times and made funny gestures and I think he even made fun of my sneakers. They were Nikes and we all know he is an Adidas man! Derrick and Rob both waved to me from stage and that felt superb. I had spoken to each band member before the show (except Jay and Matt who were absent) and got to again later.
After the gig I went straight back stage and soon after most of the Jamily followed. I was so happy that everyone could be there with us. I feel already like we would be nowhere without Jamiroquai, and of course Jamiroquai's most loyal and dedicated fans, our kindred jamily, so we cannot thank you all enough and it was so special to be there with you all. I look forward to spending more time with you all very soon!
Jay Kay's little adventure to his car was hilarious and amazing. The cat in the hat was much more warm and giving of his time than I had expected and it was a privilege to hear the new tunes that are still in progress.
When I told Rob Harris that Jay was looking for a CD player to show us the new tunes he made a speedy run for the pool table to hide in shame. I kept telling him that there was nothing to be ashamed of, as long we had a lengthy disclaimer first about the incomplete status of the tracks. That is how I work. I don't mind showing people unfinished tracks, but they can expect a lecture on what is yet to be done etc. Rob was still quite humble nonetheless. Matt Johnson seemed quite shy when I spoke to him afterwards. His keyboard solos were a highlight of the show for me. I had always kind of missed Toby after he left, but Saturday night just proved to me how amazing a player Matt is. I hope he is utilised more in the next album and tour for his talents. Paul Turner was lovely and humble also, and he and (our) Rob (McMullan) just spent about an hour talking about bass rigs, so I got bored and went back to talkig about guitars with Rob Harris and Sandra!
Oddly enough I really had very little time with Derrick. He was in work mode and was on the phone much of the time, so i never got a photo with him or had a decent conversation. BUT.... he is coming to Amsterdam tomorrow to spend a couple of days with us, because apparently Jay is working on lyrics this week and has given the guys a little time off, so he will be our Panama gigs in Amsterdam (yay!) if he manages to get some flights booked tonight.
Altogether the best weekend of my life, and hopefully the first of many big concerts in Europe with bands that we respect and admire.
I'm so glad it was a magical night for everyone. All the money, time and hair we have lost so far from the stress of this self-funded and self-planned tour have been washed away by the magic of Saturday night. Every sacrifice has been absolutely worth it, and if I died tomorrow, I would die a happy man.
But I won't die.
I will live and funk on tomorrow and every day hence forth until one day I am 103 and keel over in the studio from an overdose of soul.
Love and so much respect to you all!
James
