No planned release for Montreux on Blu-Ray (**updated**)
I just got a response from Eagle Entertainment regarding a HiDef Blu-Ray release of Jamiroquai Live at Montreux 2003. And unfortunately they said that there is no planned release for this title Although I already have it on DVD, I was hoping to get it in a higher bitrate encode with lossless audio PCM or TrueHD/DTS-MA. Oh well maybe we can start a petition to release this if there is enough support.

..2003?
..why don't you try to ask for Montreux, but the wonderful first gig there in 1995.. i'll surely get it, also in VHS support!!..

This is a correct question as in the credits of the recording, in the end you can see a "Shot in HD" statement!
Maybe we'll see this someday, somehow, let's keep waiting ... _________________ I once had a 10 years of Travelling Without Moving celebrations banner here... |

Is there a big difference in quality between blue ray and dvd? I'm not really well informed .
I notice that people frequently say they wish the '95 concert was released, but I never hear anyone talking about the '02 concert. If you haven't seen the tracks available on youtube, take a look at them sometime. They're gold, I think '02 could well be the best out of the three gigs. _________________ Bass to jazz.... j-j-j-jazz to bass... |

Oh yes! There is a huge difference! While you are watching to a Blu-Ray film it seems you are actually there! It seems a ridiculously good photographie without any pixels on it! It's perfect.. and it's even better to watch cartoons! _________________ GIGGLES! |

If you have an LCD monitor, you'll appreciate the difference better:

It's only really better if the original source is natively HD(at least 1280x720 also called 720p)
Most of the old movies ( I mean before the 2000s') released in bluray are just the dvd version up scaled, where the size of the pixels have been inscreased, like a zoom.
Bluray are expensive and not zone free.
HD DVD FTW. _________________ Smile ~ |

You are quite incorrect Seb, as I posted in another thread with someone asking a similar question, all movies that use film (not video camera) are higher than current HD resolution 4000 lines of resolution as compared to most lcd/plasma tvs 720 or 1080 lines. Older movies can (and some do) look as good as current ones, however the quality is affected by two major things. One is the condition of the movie's print, some studios take extra special care of the original film print and make a master copy to use for editing, etc. Plus some older films used cheaper film and it can break down after time. The other thing is restoration, a few companies specialize in taking every little spec of dust and tweaking color just right, while other films that are not a popular may not get as good treatment. Some people think that "upscaled" dvds look as good as blu-ray are either poor vision or small tv set. But if someone doesn't see the value of blu-ray then that is ok too, I will see you when dvd is out of print
just one example to show the difference of an older movie properly restored for blu-ray is Blade Runner, enjoy
