Revolution 1993 Bass/Synth Tone
Hi, I'm new to these forums and I was wondering: Does anyone have even the foggyest clue how to get that amazing synth bass tone on revolution 1993 (using effects pedals for bass guitar)? It would be so awesome if anyone did!
Thanks in advance!

sounds like a sawtooth or square wave played on an analog synth, probably a mini-moog, and toby adjusts the filter cutoff and maybe resonance as he plays it. there are several pretty good vst emulations.. i prefer minimonsta.

oh, and there's probably a little distortion/overdrive on it as well as compression.

hmm, thanks for that. While we're here, what's the best pedal there is for bass that acts as a synth (I've go the EHX bass micro-synth). Is there anything like my current synth that produces the same effect as this? Thanks for any replies I do get!

i think EHX micro synth is great pedal...
for more synth-like sounds maybe you should try to experiment combining micro synth with envelope filter (btw ibanez AF 9 envelope filter was used by Toby Smith - or theres the same pedal with maxon sabel - maxon af 9, also i know Lovetone meatball was used by Nick Fyffe)

or try to use envelope filter with compressor..
