Anything by Ray LaMontagne- but today I am particularly digging a few of the very slow songs- Till the Sun Turns Black and Within You, and also the title track to his most recent album (two years old now), Gossip in the Grain. The acoustic guitar, the mellotron, and the delivery of the vocal remind me so much of Donovan, actually. It's uncanny.
Also check out "Burn", from his album called Trouble. _________________ "Nikki Giovanni kicks Maya Angelou's ass."

Some good old progressive rock from the 70s:
Focus: Hocus Pocus
By the way, this is the tune Nike uses in its new football commercial. _________________

Tracey Thorn's new album, Love and its Opposite. SOme of the classic Everything But the Girl sound, and also a touch of the house/dance oriented stuff they got into later on.
This is a concept album, really, about love itself, from the viewpoint of a 30- or 40-something person...it's brilliant. _________________ "Nikki Giovanni kicks Maya Angelou's ass."

Is it really wanky to recommend everyone check out my new website? http://www.jamesfoxhiggins.com New solo album going into production and I need your help!
Yes?
Okay, well in that case may I recommend:
1) Jonny Lang's "Turn Around" (album)
2) Toto's "Falling In Between" (album)
Top notch songwriting, musicianship and production on both and they have totally inspired a lot of the new material I am writing.
Love and respect to the Jamily as always!

I probably recommended this already before, even several times, but because I'm currently listening to it, I have to do it again!
If you like Jazz, get your fingers on the album
A Love Supreme by THE saxophone legend John Coltrane!!!
This album has been for many years now and still is my absolute favourite Jazz album!
And if you like the style of this album, I recommend you the album
Olé Coltrane!!! _________________
