Funky I said about the transtional period because besides Dynamite being a relatively versatile album, was still under Sony's wing, and the right moment for a transition of their sound would appear to be now that they're supposedly with total creative control of their work.

About his age, he shall just be aware of the band's fanbase, to not let himself fall into ostracism, and I know he won't be. Rolling Eyes

Oh, right, I understand what you mean now. I consider Dynamite to be transitional, because it was the product of a transition in Jay's personal life. Prior to the album, he experienced a severe drug addiction, and it wasn't until he cleaned up his act that the album was finally produced.

To me, Dynamite is an uneven album, similar to that of Synkronized. Synk was the product of a social disturbance within the band (Stu leaving & new bassist) and digital experimention. Similarly, Dynamite was the aftermath of social disturbances within the band (Toby & Nick Fyffe leaving) as well as Jay's recovery from addiction.

Say what you will about AFO; to me it has a more uniform sound and direction. As a whole, it felt more polished.

Aside from the long absence and the new label, this album is being recorded by a stable lineup, a recovered Jay with a healed voice, and it's live (supposedly).

To me, it sounds like business as usual once again. If the past is anything to go by, I foresee this album to be a more cohesive, polished, and uniform work.

This is all elaborate speculation, of course... Wink

You're absolutely right!
Although I prefer the tunes on Synkronized.

I prefer Synkronized as well. I actually enjoy listening to that album a lot more than I used to. I really grew to like it.

I think Synkronized is a good album, but I can't help the feeling of 'unfinished' when I listen it. Only some tunes are really good to me an the other ones are missing something else.

What I feel for Dynamite is something totally different, I think this album is much more complete and I can feel the guys took their time to finish each track.-

... we are the bosses...

WTF?

Think of this, customers are the bosses, but given the granularity of "power" each one of us has, nobody alone is able to enforce that (as a normal boss inside an organization would), but if we all joined...we could make a change, see, Bernie Ecclestone might be F1 boss, but if NOBODY watched F1, he'd be "fired" by the viewers, you see?, I'm not calling out for a boycott...but if nobody ever bought jamiroquai's cds they'd be dropped out any label, that means, we can decide, therefore we are the bosses cuz we pay the checks, we pay the label, our money goes to pay for all the organization, Jason and musicians included, something us latinoamericans forget. Nunca nos unimos para nada que no sea el mundial Gonza.

Brent: Thanks for the heads up, I know I probably got a bit overboard, but I'm tired of the bad sound they've had recently (and by recently I mean almost a decade), I'm tired that instead of them pulling the strings, it's again a record label doing it, I'm not mad because the album hasn't come out yet, I'm mad because of the stupid way they seem to be managed by universal, again, they think the UK-Europe is the whole world...what about Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Mexico? they forget about us, and by announcing this BIG THING in jami's world, is definitely something, something big would be a world tour like the 90's..not a semi-private gig in a local pub...we've been left behind, and by we I mean all of us.

I'm jumping too far ahead I know, but I'll just wait and see.

Now to you all...the fact that bandmembers have myspace profiles and post something every now and then in jamiroquai.com is NOT being in touch with the fans, it's just being in touch with a few (although David Rowe has been recognized some times by Jason for his extensive work with the band), and remember, jamiroquai is Jason (the guy who's never online listening to us kids...), not all of the bandmebers. See how they've changed almost everybody since the start, and it's still jamiroquai, it's cuz it's really Jaymiroquai...I wish they'd come out with stuff like Bullet, or Music of the Mind, but they'd never really listen to us.

Jay_F: I see your point

Sandriche: I also see your point Wink Thanks for the welcome, I'm not new here, love jami, they've been through most of my life with me, I've supported them in any way I could (I'm not new here or to jami, my profile here is jamirowolf)

Iranterres: You're absolutely right, obrigado!

Well, I agree with you somewhat. Generally speaking, I feel that both albums are lacking, but they lack in different areas.

Synkronized feels incomplete. Dynamite feels unbalanced/uneven.

Synk is like a movie with a whole bunch of deleted scenes. Dynamite is like a movie that's missing a good director + choreographer. I enjoy it, but musically, it's all over the place. Individually, each track is well composed for the most part. (Many songs could have used slight tweaking. Some lyrics are a little wonky, and some of the arrangements are cheesy. 'DGHAC' would've sounded better if the disco sounds were reduced, imo.)

I feel that the problem with Dynamite is that it doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it electro? Is it disco/funk? Is it rock? Is it pop? Albeit, AFO used many of these elements as well, but it blended them together successfully to produce a distinct sound and direction.

As a whole, Dynamite feels lost. Some of the songs feel isolated, while others sound better in distinct groups, as if tracks from different projects were slapped together to produce an entire album. This is why I think Dynamite sounds unbalanced/uneven. It feels like the songs are pulling the album in different directions rather than working together to achieve a singular musical direction.

I agree with you, I always felt the same about Dynamite. But it never was a problem to me, in some way, Dynamite doesnt have a very clear identity, but it's full of great songs (at least to me), so I enjoy listening at this album, much more than Synk

Dynamite is a good party album (except for WTHW). It's like a mixtape. Cool

Apologies if anyone has posted this before me, but just got back from the Hyde Park gig where Jay mentioned that the new album is out in October.
