Negative critics about the new stuff
Just wanted to let you know about a little conversation I had with Rob a few minutes ago... here a quote:

Hi Rob, what's up? Feeling so sorry for all those negative comments of the fans. Did you guys expect this controversial reaction to the new stuff?? Jamiroquai fans - hard to satisfy, huh?

Hey Meike
hah, yeah ,those comments are kinda tough to read. I actually usually try not too look at them most of the time but sometimes you can't help but look.
They do take it all so seriously which is a good thing i guess, afterrall, we take it seriously too. What i do know is that we've played our hearts out on this album, it is different from older stuff but it has to be. There really is no point repeating art.
You have to create something new which is exactly why i love playing in this band.

Something to think about....

Rob the first thing i was doing when hearing the song was to post it on my facebook saying: "This is Rob motherfucking Harris"
Sorry to be cursing but i just freaked out when i heard the song, it is so cool and original in its dynamics and feel.
Dont let those negative comments take you down, i finished my 3 year music gymnasium course in bass and every guitarplayer on that school worshiped you, i know even one friend used to take live mp3s to his guitar teacher saying: "How do i sound like Rob Harris?" haha, So you are an huge inspiration for me and the whole band is doing a fantastic job! |

hmmmmm, it is very easy:
to be a fan, you must love your band, enjoy all the ways that sound goes, understand what they want to say, do not matter if it is different or worst to you.
music change everything, music is the answer.
i love jamiroquai and i will support them until the end of time! i am very proud to see how they are changing and maturing. after all, they have almost twenty years of history, it would be weird if they play always the same stuff!
if i was rob harris and the rest of jamiroquai, i really would not care about that words from the fans. so, rob, go ahead! we are with you! _________________

Absolutely Rob! I always maintain that Jamiroquai cannot win!
If they do stuff sounding like the earlier music, they are labelled as formulaic and guilty of sounding the same...
If they make music that is different from their previous material and is something new (which is how I believe how it should be...), the fans of the early stuff moan asking where is the Jamiroquai I used to know and saying Jamiroquai is dead and all that nonsense...
So they can't win either way! I think its great that Jamiroquai are constantly striving to do something a bit different with each release and cannot wait for the new album!
Oh and Rob, let me assure you, some of those disrespectful, negative comments are by far outweighed by comments of how much the material is respected and loved! Keep grooving man! _________________ 'This is the world he wants, pray for the brave and the young...' |

Hmmm, my 2 cents:
As some of you already mentioned the band kinda fell into their own trap... This is Jamiroquai, not a crappy mainstream band, they have their trademarks like the punchy basslines, Jay's headgears or the buffalo man. They set the bar pretty high with their first 4 albums but even AFO and Dynamite are way above standard (just listened to Electric Mistress after quite a long time and it still gives me goosebumps!). They made a 5 years brake with regards to new material and after leaving Sony everyone was expecting something closer to their old stuff. Then came the summer tour, brass section is back on stage after 10 years, the band is on fire, seem to be enjoying all the old tracks they put on the setlist. There were warning signals (Radio from GH or RDLS from this tour) but I was blinded by the magnificent arrangements they produced for this latest tour and then Blue Skies turned everything upside down. I have absolutely no doubts that the guys put their heart on the album and you need to keep up changing not to get bored, plus we don't have the basis to judge their creation let's say. People on funkin are way too harsh in some comments but that's what you get when getting off the paved road you bump into trees in the dark. Anyway what I was just trying to say is that (as the lyrics said) Jamiroquai gave me something that nobody else could give and this seems to be over based on the last 2 tracks...
Anyway, I'm still keeping my fingures crossed for the remaining 9 tracks to blow my pants off from me |

yes, finally a bandmember said¡¡¡¡
art is ot repetition, ao that's why i can accept so fast new tunes from the band-or any band i follow- because i am ready to listen something new, unexpected.
i must say the only thing from this new era i can't dig it yet is the cover from the new album, and i't because even i like the crowd behind jay, the pose is not that good, it can be better.
besides that, i have some questions
-there will be instrumentals for the new album?
-there's a chance i can know who drove the porsche in the video?
and
-will the band be happy to play in the same stage with green day in bogota, colombia, soon this year?
i can't go colombia, but as a green day and jamiroquai fan, ill be pleased if i could go to see that shows
rob, keep the work
and well, obviusly not all takes the new stuff so good
i like all i have heard it yet, and i am looking forward to hear blue skies-when i get those hi-octane videos-and then hurtin, but from what ive read looks like is another trip i would like to do.
yes, i think music is a trip, so anybody find the trip more easy or hard to do it.To me the new stuff is a fast trip _________________ Only a fool can walk away from me this time

Yeah, I feel you Zsoma.
Hurtin and Blue Skies did Jamiroquai less interesting in some way...
I think it has to do with the joy that Jamiroquai-tunes has gave me the past albums. So far there is no joy in theese tracks.
Still hoping for a happy album... _________________ //Lorryquai |

i do believe RDLS is promising (so far i dig the 4 tracks), will continue supporting their new direction and i look forward to the band touring soon _________________ I think it’s time to find a new religion |

Not going to talk heavily on the topic, but I am disappointed with all 3 of the 4 tracks released so far. I understand that their style is changing, and I am open to that, but we originally fell in love with the band that gave us amazing Acid Jazz/Funk, not loud rock rubbish. I can accept that they want to change musically, and of course will support them, but I personally would prefer to hear music that is reminiscent of 94'. |

I hope you meant excited by warning. IMO Radio is the best song that they have put out since AFO. |
