I love the bassline on 'All Good In The Hood', but right now the one I'm looking forward to hearing most is 'Lifeline' Very Happy

ZOMG!

I think the 30 second snippets are REALLY promising, especially She's a Fast Persauader, All Good In The Hood and Smoke & Mirrors. The other tracks are great aswell, one or two slower ones that havent grabbed me on first listen but i'm sure when the album drops i'll love em!

They really have returned to a hybrid ol' skool Jamiroquai sound with a hint of Dynamite. I love it!

1 - Rock Dust Light Star - 8/10
Pretty much some as live, only keyboards higher in the mix. Great track, loved it anyway, album version is maybe even better than live.

2 - White Knuckle Ride - 8/10
What i love about this song is its got such a kick to it, like a japanese mule! Dunno wht all the moaning and btching is about, its really good. Its Jamiroquai, its disco, its got backing vocalists shouting PREASURE! What more do you want, orgasms?

3 - Smoke & Mirrors - 9/10
OH YES!!!! Its Love is The Drug mixed with some Off The Wall era Wackson Jackson. Superb. See, this is the Jamiroquai we've all been waiting for since 1999. Dynamite was good, really good, but was it Jamiroquai enough? Course not... Looking good so far then for the album. Strong 3 openers. And more importantly, the horns are back!

4 - All Good In The Hood - 10/10
This is what i'm talking 'bout! That bassline is too funky. The percussion, the horns, its simply amazing. I am loving this album so far, its got that feel to it of TWM era Jamiroquai

5 - Hurtin' - 7/10
Love it, but its the voice, he sounds like Phil Mitchell (mid crack addiction). Dirty guitar though, very Hendrix. The chorus to this kinda saves it. Its more of a jam isnt it? Like doesent have to much of a structure.

6 - Blue Skies - 9/10
Its Seven Days In Sunny June again. Perfect. Also a perfect single choice, that type of ballad is in right now, look at Robbie Wiliams. Its on the radio all the time aswell so they're doing something right. Anyway, lush sweeping strings, catchy melody...

7 - Lifeline - 8/10
This reminds me of something, but what? Very Paul Mccartney, Venus and Mars era. Didnt really like it on first listen, but actually its very nice. The horns work great. I keep imagining Macca at his piano now...

8 - She's a Fast Persuader - 10/10
Oh fuck yeah! That opening bit of the snippet is superb. That guitar proving a whole layer, the little bit of slap bass, its so TWM. Wouldnt of been out of place on Synkronized. The chorus is brilliant, how it changes tempo. Love this so much, i can tell that snippet is gonna be on constant repeat until the 1st of November

9 - Two Completely Different Things - 9/10
Very 70's, Average White Band maybe? The percussion is spot on, it has a few little stabs of synth, just like that classic synth line at the end of Space cowboy. Would've suited Emergancy On Planet Earth, its that kinda vibe. Retro.

10 - Goodbye To My Dancer - 10/10
Suddenly it goes all reggae! This album is crazy! The chorus is everything you need in a reggae track, that one organ line, held down... The bassline is phenominal, Paul Turner has really made this album his own. Its got that classic reggae guitar part. I hope this is long, its crying out for an extemded section where it goes all dub.

11 - Never Gonna Be Another - 9/10
Beautifull. Black Crow... Talulah... Everyday. This is the next chapter, quite Bowie-ish circa Young Americans, like the balads from that era. Its a late night jam, very mellow. Some great subtle Beatles-y guitar from Rob aswell

12 - Hey Floyd - 9/10
Alot to take in with this one. From the snippet alone! The're is a great bass/ percussion jam at first with a descended Piano riff. The chorus kicks in suddenly and its all grand strings and piano! This is a bit of masterpiece musically. Very strong way to close an album

She's a Fast Persuader and Two Completely Different Things immediately stand out for me too; sounds great! Razz

the best songs are

8. She's A Fast Persuader
9. Two Completely Different Things
11. Never Gonna Be Another
12. Hey Floyd
14. Angeline

for me the best 9. Two Completely Different Things (the track is so funky i loved it)

the tracks 8 and 9 is that i call the real jamiroquai soul funk style

that just my point about the 30 seconds album

i love the non electronic way of this album no more feels just like it should techno song (i don't hate it ) but the new album is beautifful and sound more funk jazz soul style than dynamite

Some people on this website should be effing ashamed. Calling out the band after hearing 3 songs from the album. Saying the album is shit, that they're only about the money, when they didn't even hear half of their work Laughing.
Now maybe it won't be your cup of tea, but you can hear the work they've put in the album.
I personally can't wait for this album, it'll get a ton of play in my appartment Wink

If someone is starting a petition asking for excuse from the band for being so harsh with them I'll happily be the first to sign off on it - but only after listening to the entire album Wink

Of course, we'll have to wait for the full album to judge their work. But from some comments, it seriously looked like they knew that the album would be filled with disgraceful 2 min long tracks, devoid of any live sounds. Some of us were clearly out of line with what they were saying IMO

The same here! I don't want to listen to those snippets! I'll wait for the full versions & a decent audio system to listen to it! But it's gonna be 2 long weeks!

My Little Personnel Reviews of the Album

All the samples sound awesome VERY different from what we have heard from Jamiroquai in the past (in a good way). It seems "Radio" was the new beginning that sparked this new sound and even that song has a much higher production sound than what I am hearing in these samples.

For me the weakest song on the album is Blue Skies. The melody is nice at times but the lyrics are too love sappy for my liking. If it was a conscious decision to release "Blue skies and White Knuckle Ride" together for the combined message in the video representing Jay's freedom I respect that.

My only criticism based on the samples is the lack of "fast paced, up beat, jazzy, funk tunes" with the exception of "White Knuckle Ride" and "Shes a Fast Persuader" and"Hey Floyd" since songs played at a faster pace is where Jamiroquai seams to shine in my opinion. Ive got a gut feeling "That's not the funk I want" will be similar pace to these songs.

The style of the album is definitely the most Organic and Live material Jamiroquai has released since the Traveling Without Moving/Synchronized era yet it still tries to replicate the sound in a new and fresh way rather than copying or repeating past successes.

My favourite 30 seconds samples so far are (which will most likely chance when I hear the songs in full)

* Rock Dust Light Star
* Shes a Fast Persuader
* Hey Floyd
* All Good in the Hood (Album Version)

One last final comment

I have been on these forums recently for a long time even though I do not regularly post. I have been a fan of the band from the Traveling Without Moving Era (since i'm only 21). But still love the first two albums. I find it really disrespectful for all the people that have been "bashing" the band with comments like "Jamiroquai are dead" without even hearing an album in full. People are entitled to not like songs from the band and have every right to say they do not like a song, but to just post heartless comments on a fan page forum seems odd to me.

I hope this album proves you all wrong,
