The Jamily section on the left balcony really enjoyed this gig.
From that position we could see the band enjoying themselves and working really hard to perfect the sound of the new numbers.

Soundcheck was aswome Wink
So were Jay's moves, happy and smiling.
'We loved the bum wiggle' scream

As there's was another gig straight after theirs, they had finished at a certain time, and the roadies had to clean up the stage straight away.
That must have been the reason they ended the gig with Deeper without leaving the stage first.

So if anyone is to blame for a short gig, it is the Paradiso for booking a gig straight after. And even though it went very quickly, we heard Smoke and Mirrors (which was great) and this very beautiful version of RDLS with Bossanova influences and the song we couldn't define at the moment but it was all good in the hood !

JK thanked the band with clapping and thanked the crowd with handkisses and clapping.

We had a wonderful time in Amsterdam !

Before i forget, the show was taped.
The journalist infront of me, told me it was being taped.
There atleast 1 camera on stage, and he told me there was some more in the back.

No, he did not know where we could see the footage.
Normally he would say Fabchannel, but as we know...that is gone.

But who knows, keep your eyes open!

Sorry guys, but this gig was nothing ! I don't take it easy to write this, trust me, I've see this band many times since 95, but this gig, if it was really supposed to be the intl. album launch gig, was a joke ! Yes, of course, fun, and it almost felt like '05, with the Michelle Weeks House tune " be thankful" before the show, to get the crowd moving. But hey !!! 1 hour and 15 minutes, killing the vibe in between with improvised stuff from the new album, that most in the audience were looking forward to hear live as it was presented on the album. Jay basically being annoyed throughout the gig by the bad monitor mixing (use in-ears like the rest of the band, they use them for a reason, mate !). Playing Deeper Underground out of the blue, not as an encore, and a stage tec giving the cut-throat sign 5 seconds after you leave the stage is just a huge dissappointment. I enjoy the new album, a lot, and I will certainly get tix for the next tour, but I feel sorry for anybody who paid 250 € (and up) to see this mediocre performance. And yes, this is just my opinion.

You've got a point there!

But still, I enjoyed the gig even if it was that short.
First of all I'm always glad to meet my fellow Jamily friends: You guys kick arse!
Second, I'm always glad to hear my favourite band live.
Third, I'm always glad to visit the Netherlands! (And no, I stopped smoking pot some time ago.)

And Rosa, who has been at her first Jamiroquai concert, really enjoyed the gig too, although she was sitting on her chair during it. But she expected a more pompous show by Jay, with a special costume and such stuff, like in most of the Jamiroquai video clips. She always thinks that the colour of Jay's hat was of bad taste! (After her our Belgian Jay was wearing a more suiting hat.) Cool

I thought it was amazing; had a fab time! And lovely to meet you all! Was only sad that they didn't play more of the new album (RDLS was a GREAT version by the way Very Happy ) and that the show wasn't longer... It was a bit of an abrupt end... Confused
Would have loved to hear Hey Floyd or Two completely Different Things Very Happy Hopefully next time at Ahoy!

There was one camera on stage, one on the side of the stage, two halfway the venue and one in the back of the venue.

Jay seemed pissed off that he couldn't hear himself properly. The band seemed in a hurry. Not much talking between the songs. So I doubt if the recording will show up somewhere (Jay has to give his permission in the end I think...).

My opinion:
- Good gig. Too bad a huge part of the Jamily wasn't front row.
- Sound was good, although the high parts couldn't be heard very well in the front. Sometimes we couldn't hear the brass very well.
- Paul was very good!
- Sola was doing some funny things and had some cool moments (it seemed he even surprised Jay with some actions, very funny!)
- Rob had some nice, surprising riffs.
- The brass section was amazing! (And it seemed one guy of the brass section noticed that I was aware of them: every time they came in, I looked their way and vice versa).
- Jay was moving a lot! I still think he gave the best of his self. His voice was good.
- Fast Persuaders and Smokin' Mirrors were on the original setlist, so I was really excited. Too bad they didn't give us (an extended version of) SAFP.
- Was I the only one who could sing along with SaM? Wink
- Strange (1): they came up while the DJ was playing and lights were on Confused So, no lights off, no building up the excitement...
- Strange (2): Deeper Undergound (I thought: this is the end of the gig) was finished, they waved, said goodbye, left the stage and that was it. No encore. Very strange. As I said: they seemed in a hurry.
- Highlights: Black Capricorn Day (amazing brass!!), SaM (my favourite).
- Surprises: AGITH (acoustic version), RDLS (slow version, way better than the original), the last part of Hurtin' (great! great!), no SAFP (not a positive surprise).
- Revolution in the beginning of the gig still works!
