Size of pics in postings - no problem anymore!!!
Don't worry, Jamirotalkers!
The one and only Funkmaster spent the last evening programming in the living room and solved the "big-pics-long-loading-problem"
We have following new functionality to deal with big size pictures:
When user posts a picture, the system will analyse the picture BEFORE writing the post message into the database. Format and filesize are being stored together with the URL.
While viewing the posts, following rules are being applied currently:
a) If filesize of picture over 100KB, a textlink to the picture together with information about filesize will be shown instead of the picture.
b) If picture format exceeds 500 pixels in width or height, the picture will be shown resized. Resizing the picture is performed on server side - no javascript needed.
Thanks, Miran for this improvement!!

Well, if I may, i'd like to suggest Image Hosting Sites... More precisely www.imageshack.us
It has a great function that allows you to post High Res pics, and then post a small thumbnail in message forums, such as this:
it's a great tool.... and for the 56k users, it's heaven..
(I found it out in another forum i go to, about cars, and it's compulsory there...)
Hope this helps... _________________

Thank you Mers!
Imageshack seems to be a superb tool for everybody who wants to post a picture and has no upload opportunity. The possibility to generate thumbnails and post them in the board is really clever ... - saves them bandwidth and speeds up the loading of messages. Great!
Thanks for the link! |
