Damn, I didn't see this one at all!
EOPE: 1/2
ROTSC:
TWM:
Synk:
AFO:
The AFO live cuts are fantastic, blows the studio cuts outta the water. I also think that Jaminneapolis' point about the older and younger fans and their fave albums is valid....then again, I became a fan during AFO, and went through the album catalog backwards. _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. Some classic tracks on Funk Odyssey but I spose I kinda expected more!
Return of the Spacecowboy tops, brilliant from start to finish, Morning Glory and Mr Moon are tracks I could listen to 24 hours a day! |

Everyone seems to be giving AFO a horrible rep! Two stars, two and a half stars... I mean, I like them all, yeah. But I thought that AFO was at least three and a half or so. It really does have some funky numbers, you have to admit.

Joel, about me, i consider EOPE and ROSC the best 2 albums of JMQ; i explain this: i've been loving their music since the beginning; Jamiroquai, with those kind of sound and especially with their texts have "upset" my life!!! There's no doubt: AFO is gr8, but, try to understand me, it's quite difficult to accept changes about their , how can i say, music evolution.....In my heart There will always be JMQ with Didjeridoos, with flutes....it's hard to explain this, but it's what i feel...... _________________

Hello...
I just want to tell that today in college I brought my discman and while I was drawing I put 'Synkronized' and I don't know why but I really really enjoyed it! I don't know why it didn't have so much success, it's a very good album...

FRA, I'm sorry if I came off as angry at people for thinking differently of AFO. I suppose I can agree with you - that it feels distanced from the original Jamiroquai funkstasy that we're used to experiencing. I agree entirely that it is not the same sound as Emergency or Space Cowboy. I, too, miss the didge solos and the enviro-conscious lyrics. I just feel that it's important to not dislike a sound for being different from what you do like. I guess that's what I'm trying to say.
But that's just me.

Don't get me wrong I do enjoy the album very much, but to be frank when compared to a masterpiece like Return of the Space Cowboy it really only is a 2, 2 and a half at best. I enjoy all of the tracks while listening to them without question, but I'm not very inclined to put in AFO over their other albums. I just don't listen to it nearly as often as the others. Ah, whatever, I love all of the Jamiroquai albums. |

It's hard to compare as each album has its own style! Mkay, here goes:
EOPE for its rawness and staying fresh after more than a decade
ROTSC: for its musical and lyrical genius
TWM: for being so retro and simultaneously genre-defying
Synkronized: for King for a Day...
AFO: for a commendable attempt at keeping with the times! |
