Hi there,

As promised, some feedback about yesterday's gig.
I just posted my review on the French forum, so I'll translate it roughly. No need to read this if you've seen it on the French forum already ! Wink

After the recording of the TV show, we (me, Doc and Plume [not sure she's a regular poster here]) went straight back to the "Arc" Club, but it was already too late to be front row (except for Plume... she's a girl !). Doors had already been opened for a while.

The venue was small and totally inadequate for the gig. Basically, the club is split in two "rooms". In one, the band was playing in one and the crowd was in the other, but there were large columns between the two, the DJ booth took a lot of space and two VIP areas also got a little in the way. This only left a small "window" through which people could see the band. Ceiling was very low, the room was overcrowded (there'd better not be a fire in there). Honestly, 75% of the audience didn't see a thing...

That's the view we had (and my arm was raised to take the picture!!!). We were a bit more towards the front at the beginning but we couldn't see anything anyway, so we decided to step back to have a bit more room to move. The "visual" result was exactly the same and we had more room to move! (and we were closer to the free bar!)

The concert itself lasted about 50 minutes, you've seen the setlist already. Sound was good (friends said sound on the front row was very bad though) and the whole band had a good energy.
The song themselves remained very similar to the album versions and songs were always short (9 songs in a 50 minutes gig, heh! Laughing ).

I was told Jay was pretty pissed about the sound (he always is anyway!), but we didn't notice anything (remember we couldn't see him or the band).

I thought the audience was good for a private gig. I remember my last (not so) private gig in Paris back in 2005, and 2 thirds of the crowd didn't care a damn about the band. Last night, however posh and sometimes stupid the people were, they were all here for Jamiroquai, they clapped and yelled. Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening (alcohol did help quite a few of them!).

The venue was pretty well decorated, with lots of posters and those cool Buffalo led panels that everyone took pictures of.

After the show ended (most of the people left directly), the whole band but Jay came back and sat at a table in a VIP section. On their way to their table, they chat with everyone, took pictures and gave autographs (the whole band signed my RDLS LP... I always told them to sign straight on Jay's face but no one dared!) Very Happy

All in all, it was really a nice moment that would have been MUCH better had the place been adequate for a concert. It's the first time ever in my life I go to a concert and, after two songs, totally give up looking towards the stage, as it's totally useless.

(Rob, you might not make it on Jamiroquai.com, but you made it on Jamirotalk... Just as good!)

Oh, and I read a small French article on Google news, it was written that some cheap "Reality TV" stars were there and also... Usain Bolt !
Shocked It's probably true, but the smae article also said they performed "Blue Skies", "Lifeline" and "Hey Floyd" (and probably a couple of pink elephants as well !) Very Happy

Cheers !

brilliant review Troll Very Happy

didn't seem like a suitable venue, at least the Jazz cafe has an upstairs view with it being so small but it's built for this purpose.

Hi! The most famous music store we have here in France is the "Fnac"!
I don't know if you'll be able to find the CD singles you're looking for.. but here's a map with all the stores Wink
http://www.fnac.com/localiser-magasin-fnac/w-4

Or you can maybe also try this one, not too far from Bercy:
