| Edit: listened to the bootleg and there are a lot of small errors in the recording, not sure if those came by the transmission or the conversion. |
I get a little jump inbetween tracks but nothing major. In any case, it sounds a lot better than the Youtube live stream did. Thanks freakybootslive - looking forward to a DVD when you get around to it (the single seeder on the Demonoid torrent I posted earlier seems to be away a lot atm). |
I wasn't referring to the JMQ bootleg but the LK one |

| I just think the sound wasn't well mixed. Percussion and Backing vocals were too loud. I readed many tweets complaining for the low volume on Jay's voice too. |
Watched live on YouTube and have to say the sound mixing was possibly the worst I've heard of a Jamiroquai gig. I'm sure it would've been great being there with the atmosphere and everything, but the broadcasters/sound guys didn't capture it at all well. Can't expect things to be perfect at these mega-festivals I guess... |
Rob tweeted this recently:

| I'd like to point out that YouTube footage streamed from rock in rio was not mixed by our soundguy.it was mixed by another team |
Now everything makes sense |

Ok, it´s time to my review!
First of all, Rock in Rio was my 1st JMQ front row experience... I was in Credicard Hall 2006 and Natura About Us 2010, but i never tried to get the famous 1st row.
As you know, Rock in Rio is a very popular festival, with 100 thousand people. So, we had to be strong to do this!
I took a flight to Rio de Janeiro on wednesday and 3 hours after i was there, on Rock city! It was almost 02 pm, 22 hours before Jamiroquai gig. We slept there, on the street with 4 or 5 fans who were waiting a good place too.
And then, the big day has come. We are very excited to be the first of the queue!
I gave a interview for a brazilian tv, it was very funny!
Still in the morning, the band were in the stage to the soundcheck. They played Canned Heat, Love Fool and Feels (but the last one unfortunately was not on the setlist...):
After a lot of sun and waiting, the war is over and the gates were opened to us!
And we made it! The first row!!
9 hours to Jamiroquai...
Our brazilian flag on another interview, we are celebs! haha:
http://g1.globo.com/rock-in-rio/2011/noticia/2011/09/chapeus-extravagantes-marcam-estilo-dos-fas-de-jamiroquai-no-rock-rio.html
I enjoyed a lot Joss Stone, she has a great voice. Afrika Bambataa was also very cool. Janelle Monae was amazing, an spetacular gig. And Ke$ha... who is Ke$ha?
And finally, it is time to Jamiroquai!
I have to say it was amazing to see my favourite version of Canned Heat, Morning Glory and many others. Jay was not on his best nights, but it was still Jamiroquai.
The crowd was quiet because 70% of them was there only for Ke$ha. What will we want for them? Nothing.. right?
There was a sad thing: we werent able to see Stevie Wonder. We lost his concert...
It was just unforgettable. Me and my friends had a lot of fun. Thanks Jamiroquai!

The song itself says: "There's no way to make it better". Maybe it's true! |

Just to make it clear, the above mentioned tv rip isn't the same DVD that I shared, So those die hard collectors got 2 different sources (at least). My DVD was authored from Multishow channel broadcast, an entertainment cable channel from the Globo TV Group, in charge of the whole broadcast. Even being the images from the same source which spreads worldwide, their open channel to Brazil, TV Globo, showed sometimes different angles, their usual practice made in major events broadcasting, which consists in save exclusive footage to the major channel of the group.
cheers! |
