The Hives
What do y'all think of them? Right now Im not sure if I love them or hate them. Don't get me wrong, I love their music, and Pelle Almquist is one of the most charismatic lead singers to come along in quite awhile, but they've pissed me off recently.
This past Saturday (10/2) tickets went on sale for the Hives concert at the First Avenue club in Minneapolis. I go online to ticketmaster only to find out the show has been cancelled and no makeup date has been scheduled! God Im pissed! I wanted to see them! They better come back later. Maybe on a co-headlining tour later in the year or next year with Jamiroquai lol. Peace! _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

The Hives are a good band that ends up getting trashed for being in garage rock a la the Strokes, the Vines, the (insert name here)...you get the drift. They updated their sound to fit the new wave trend that's been going on (The Killers, Franz Ferdinand. et al). I think Tyrannosaurus Hives is just as spastic and frenzied as their last album, just more focused than just exploding like the American debut did. _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. Hello,
I remember chatting with you about this Pete, and it really seems it is the concert promoter's fault, not the Hives . This incident is rather normal in the current touring scheme, concert promoter's make so many promises, that the band gets torn up from loads of touring and other situations. The Hives have been one of the brightest acts of 2004, their sophomore album "Tyrannasaurus Hives" is one of the "Year's Best". I really think they are the "Punk Beatles", I mean, all their songs, musically have more energy than all the competition, lyrically, written by a reclusive man whose name I can't remember, are poison-tipped squareily aimed at all the bullshit and bollocks in the world today. I think The Hives will continue to top themselves in the future, but very true observations Jaminneapolis & Supersonic, very stirring candor mates ! Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

Brent,
you might be right that it's the promoter's fault or maybe the scheduler's fault, for scheduling 3 shows in 3 nights. Pelle is a screamer (Im pretty sure that's why his nickname is Howlin' Pelle), and his throat probably can't take 3 nights of punishment without losing his voice. That's why I think Minneapo0lisgot the shaft. The dude is so charismatic, so it's a downer I won't be able to see him. Unless... roadtrip to Milwaukee the night before???? _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |
