The album version makes me go much higher xd and the mysterious bassist is fantastic, but also I think that depends on my mood, sometimes space cowboy is about dance and feeling good, not about being high Very Happy

Album version, because it's the perfect end for the album.

But outside the album, if you are driving, do you still choose the album version ?

@ Poderfunk : "I think that depends on my mood, sometimes space cowboy is about dance and feeling good, not about being high"

You're right !

@ Gonza-Arg
Can you explain why do you choose the album version ?

Personally, I hesitate between the single version (the rhodes are fantastic and the sound is a little more deeper) and the Stoned Again (could be perfect but the synths are a little bit different)
I like the album version but why there's no guitar !

I prefer the groove of the Stoned Again / demo, but the voicing of the Rhodes chords on the intro of the album version sounds much better to me...

My favourites are the album version and the Stoned Again version.
The album one feels relaxing, very chill out and is very well worked. The Stoned Again one, I guess, is the more known, b'coz is the one featured in the video, have more speed, and haves Stu on the bass (I've read, as Poderfunk said, that in the album version bass is played by another one, dunno if that's true).

Honestly I can't decide for one or another...

The demo, well, I love demos and this one is very close to the album version.

It's true ! The name of this special bass player was never revealed it was only credited as Mr X (Check the booklet) and according to Wikipedia :

"Bassist Stuart Zender does not appear on the album version of the song "Space Cowboy". Zender's explanation of the events which led to his non-appearance on the title track refer to a situation that occurred during the last stages of the album recording. Jay Kay informed Zender that he wanted to record a new version of the title track. However, Zender had scheduled some time off to patch up his relationship with model Milla Jovovich. Kay gave his blessing to take the time off, but when Zender returned he found that Kay had recruited a session bassist, known only as "Mr X", to play on the song. Mr X is credited on the liner notes"

I remember that Zender feel a little betrayed after that : it could be the start of a certain animosity between him and Jay...

I rarely listen to that song just like that, I listen it with the whole album, so I can't tell you.

my favorite is the stoned again version. the power of this song is amazing to me.
album version is incredible deep and i absolute love it.
and the demo version is great because you can feel the groove and the jam of a pure demo. brilliant.

@ Ophone Ok ! Smile I usually do my own compilations for my car ! It's interresting the idea of perfect end for the album : do you think that the single/stoned again version couldn't fit like the album version ?

The album version sounds like a live (jam ?) track unlike the stoned again version isn't it ?
