I notice every day on my actual bass, that its builders didn't have the love to build a music instrument. Some irregularities and things like that, but fortunately it's still playable and what should I expect from a bass that cost 115€ with a small amplifier, a bag, a carrier belt and a set of extra chords included.
By the way, the carrier belt was not long enough and very uncomfortable, I had to buy a new one at the guitar store in the neighbouring town. An original Fender made out of leather for 69€!!! More than half of the price than the rest, but I have to admit that my new carrier belt is very comfy!
So, I can't wait to get my fingers on enough dough to buy a new bass and also a better amplifier. (The one I have is still nice to practice with, but it has a lot of reverb when I turn it up.)
Here now the three basses, I'm going to choose one from very probably, with a large preference for the Fender, due to Guly's advice and a guy's advice from the Montréal Canadiens forum. But I'm going to try them first:
1. Fender American Standard Jazz Bass in Olympic White with a Rosewood neck
2. Yamaha TRB1004J in nature tone
3. Ibanez Grooveline G104 in nature tone

By the way, I might have a dough source quite soon:
I own a saxophone, a Selmer Mark VII tenor to be precise, but I don't play it anymore.
About 15 years ago I bought it second hand for 10'000 Luxembourgish Francs (250 €).
2 days ago I made a research on the net to know my sax' present value. Here what I found out: It's current value lies between 2'700 and 4'000 US$!!! (currently 2100 - 3100 €)
Well, whether there stinks something about my sax or the guy who sold me the instrument didn't know its real value. Especially the lacquer (silver) is quite searched.
You can't tell me that money inflation has been that high from the time I bought the sax until today, to go from 250€ to around 2'500 €!
I have to have it checked by a professional! _________________

Well, I don't know anything about wind instruments. But sometimes, the old instruments which are from very good mark and which are very well convserved can cost a lotof money. |

Well well well, time to dig out this thread again.
After a break, I restarted to play the bass, especially because I stopped playing MMORPGS around last Christmas and quit smoking for a bit more than 2 weeks now.
Not only that, instead of spending all of my spare money on a new computer as I intended initially, I spent just a part of it on a new instrument and a new amplifier.
Why? I am totally disappointed by the first bass I bought and especially the amplifier which was delivered with it.
I'm not good enough yet to invest that much money into an original American Fender, so I went for Fender's 2nd brand Squier and bought a Squier Jazz Bass Modified Vintage 1970:
And a Fender Rumble 30 Watt bass amp.
I'm totally surprised by the clean, pure and fresh sound the bass and the amp are producing!
Hence, more motivation to practise!
