Some time ago a photo was shared here in the forum, in the photo Jay was with a baby and a woman. Some fans started to say the baby was Jay's child, but pretty soon the photo was removed and some other users asked to keep Jay's private life out of the discussions.

No, I don't think is better. The proportions are all off.
Even though the old one still has some problems, the sizes are better.

Agreed.

The name of the single should be more important, than the name of the band.

Better changes... Smile

I think the old one remains as the Single Cover, while the new one is going to be the cover for the album

In my humble opinion, they should've gone with something closer to the earlier albums with the photo taking center stage, not the titles.
RDLS had a similar problem, the title of the album used the Jamiroquai logo font and was much bigger.

The thing is that the image used for both RDLS and Automaton have problems, i mean, the RDLS cover have the prominent content centered(Jay Kay in this case) like the earlier albums but fails to leave enough white space for the title.

With Automaton you have some white space on the bottom, but the info is not very centralized, the "focus" content is ambiguous.

I agree.

In this pic you made, although it seems more natural, one big flaw appears: the title don't seem to be centralized, although it is, because there is more info on the right of the image.

Right. I know. I just used the same image. If the title of the album is supposed to be at the top, then the photo should be centered in a way the 'empty' space is in the middle.

Yes, and i totally agree with you on putting the title there like on the earlier albums.

there seems to be a lack of effort toward graphic design after AFO. RDLS's cover is embarrassing, and this is just a still from the video with 'Automaton' in a fairly standard 'electronic gadget' font.

Yeah, but at least everything is working as a unit now. The "< MESSAGE > // TRANSMISSION " stuff, the video, the album cover, the online announcements. There's a graphic/communicational system that RDLS era lacked.

I don't think it matters much tbh.
The albums have always had like, a basic image, some text, the buffalo.
We all like nice graphics don't we, but I think those things matter more when a band is new and establishing it's id.

As I can see, only the MP3 version of the single/album cover has changed. The physical cd/vinyl/special edition/etc versions still have the original one.

My best guess is that they changed it so when you play it on your iPod the name of the band is a bit bigger so you can read it.
