Anyone in the know..
How do the singles charts work.. Presumably the label just chooses whether or not to offer a song into the charts (UK).
Because I note that Automaton isn't actually in the charts , either top 40, or 100...
So does anyone think this new one will be put forward?

I believe if its available for streaming/sale/whatever then it's included automatically provided it follows the rules. Automaton is currently at number 46 in the 'Official Singles Sales Chart' (http://www.officialcharts.com/charts/singles-sales-chart/) which is based on purchases. It does not count streams of the single on spotify etc. The 'Official Singles Chart' which is the chart we all really know about - the single isn't in the top 100. |

I think the charts' "rules" should be updated. It really isn't like 10 years ago. A lot of people just streams the song, or watches the video on YouTube.
Too many options. |

So it seems that the "kind of Little L" strings are on both Automaton and Cloud 9 songs (probably same sample)  |

Full album track seems to be the same as on the Ken Bruce show, except with the reversed vocal intro from the teaser and a nice little extended instrumental bit before the "I'm not the one for you" part towards the end

Sure is Dye.
Does anyone else think the release of these two singles is impeccably calculated? Release an experimental track (Automaton) that captures an audience with it's unique sound, but also leaves most craving for funk and soul - then deliver a track two weeks later with exactly that.
It's genius... |
